  Content: Solid point - gaining access and letting his family decide what to do is fair. If otherside can integrate an honorary system - a room in the club or some such wall of remembrance - for fallen members that would be amazing. My thought that buying and donating the proceeds would give value to the family and burning would be a ceremonious gesture having given the family the value of the ape. Really just opening this for conversation around how to handle these situations, as it’s an opportunity to demonstrate what we mean when we say “community.” Each circumstance being individual, but crafting the options in which we can honor such situations.

  Content: Definitely logistics involved but just putting this forth as an idea - those who knew him personally can help facilitate and let his family know we’re here to support. Whatever we do it’s a great opportunity to show what being a part of this club means - we throw around words like family so let’s demonstrate we mean it. I’ve never met Tian, but love the idea of coming together as his ape family to show there’s real heart behind it. And if I read a single comment about “are we going to do this every time blah blah blah” the answer is fk yes we should.

  • SmartAPE: Mr.and89: you want to have the funds to develop a risk-free business for yourself where all initial expenses are covered by the dao. That’s precisely what grants are for, though. The issue of the revenue royalties isn’t his fault. I mean, Yuga is licensing the brand to far less worthy enterprises, and given my experience with brand licensing, I can say with certainty that they’re not making enough revenue to even be more than a rounding error on their financials. So, I don’t see the DAO giving a grant being that big a deal. Especially since it’s an IP branded device. BeastNode: Thank you Derek! The value is to the brand, not the DAO. There’s a specific distinction.

  Content: Also I’m curious as to what your definition of “value to the coin” is as if price go up is the foremost goal, then the charter should reflect that. As my initial idea was to create revenue channels through royalties for funding these projects, and that creates issues, I’m challenged to see what defines a project that as you say returns value to the coin - although I agree with the goal in part

  Content: Every manufacturer has an MOQ - minimum order quantity that makes developing and building the product viable. Even with ownership of the factory, we must respect the time and effort it takes to build a quality product. We’ll get engineering and dev support at a significant value from this, but the manufacturing is what it is and demands investment. This isn’t unusual for this type of business, and my company invests regularly at this level to bring products to market. Also the costs should not be considered in a vacuum - yes 300 K is a sizable investment, but it is in relation to both the DAOs available fund as well as the potential benefit to the DAO, which is part 2 of my question (and arguably the most important).

  Content: Glad that helped! As I no longer work for PDP, the product would run through my company, but be created as its own standalone brand. In terms of premium features, here are some which we’re actively implementing in our own audio line currently, and some which we could bring to this product specifically: Dual-mode functionality utilizing a new chipset which combines Bluetooth and 2 . 4 GHz USB dongle connectivity. Premium drivers, 7 . 1 virtual surround sound, tuned audio cavity/housing. Multiple EQ settings to optimize audio for different forms of entertainment - gaming, music, video, etc. Finishes and materials which provide tailored comfort while displaying an outward impression of quality. Include a travel case, nylon braided 3 . 5 mm cable for wired connectivity and USB-C charging cable; all with the same attention to quality and detail. Premium packaging and unboxing experience. Anchored by branding and product brand integration that itself raises the perceived value of the headset and any others which may follow. I have not yet created the AIP or prepared any numbers, as I first wanted to gauge community interest here in an open discussion. I can say confidently however that the development of a product like this will cost in the low 6 -figure range, assuming a new design and tooling rather than repurposing anything existing. Our minimum run expectation would be 5 K units, which at a randomly-designated landed cost of $ 50 would run $ 250 K alone. Tooling adds another roughly $ 60 K, plus design, development, sampling, etc. It is not a cheap venture, but if those units were to sell out at an SRP of $ 199 (or $APE equivalent), the gross sales is close to $ 1 M. All of this is conversational of course, and only meant to give a rough view of what it would take to make this happen.

I like the idea but I think the amount requested is not worth the value provided to the coin. If I were in you, I would reduce the number of units to be produced because the funding requested is excessive.

It is that company who obtained the partnership with these console and IP brands, and my job was to run product development projects to their performance and quality requirements, work through the submissions to get products and packaging approved, and ultimately to our sales team to get to retail. Thanks. All clear now. So, I take it that your AIP proposal would be for you to manufacture this through your company - not PDP? Which part of this headset would you say earns the “premium” part of your proposal? Also, how much would you be looking to ask the DAO for? I presume that you already have a breakdown of numbers and such for your AIP proposal?
