Transparency Report - AIP-404: ApeCoin DAO Metaverse Working Group Budget

Content: This is an update on the AIP- 404 : ApeCoin DAO Metaverse Working Group Budget voted for H 1 2024 . Prepared by: DIM, Metaverse Steward
Team
The MWG is composed of 3 stewards:
David_Crypto, who started on January 1 st, 2024 . Based in Singapore.
DIM, who started on January 1 st 2024 . Based in France.
PhilWatkins, who started on July 1 st, 2024 . Based in Australia.

The budget requested was $ 415 , 500 USD paid in ApeCoin ($APE) for a total of 539 , 093 . 5 $APE.
As of today, Wednesday 9 th October the MWG treasury contains 259 , 926 . 09 $APE.
This is a Transparency Report on the use of the budget. Some initiatives might not be reflected here if they did not have a cost attached.
Context
The H 1 budget from AIP- 404 was distributed in late July due to a massive administrative delay in the creation of the legal entity: MWG DAO LLC. Despite not being funded for the first 7 months, many goals were achieved including the creation of the ApeCoin Creators Assembly, establishing the Otherside strategy and several events.
As per the initial strategy of the MWG, bigger projects such as the Otherside Strategy, the Sandbox Experience are being developed and submitted to vote as separate AIPs.
As of today no other budget was put to vote as the focus has been on delivering the items from AIP- 404 . In case the AIP- 466 to dissolve the ApeCoin Working Groups passes, the Metaverse Working Group will work with the foundation to restitute or allocate the remaining funds in the treasury.
Summary
Here is a summary of the spendings. With more details the below.
Legal
The attached cost to the creation of the LLC was 12 , 853 . 98 $ ( 6 , 451 $APE at the time) and was loaned to the MWG by the Governance Working Group on March 19 th. The loan was paid back at the reception of the budget in its dollar value for a total of 16 , 692 . 2 $APE.
Compensation
Both David and DIM received a compensation of $ 9 , 000 USD per month from January to June 2024 for a total of $ 108 , 000 USD. The compensation was sent in late July when the H 1 budget was received. No other compensation were received by the MWG steward as no other budget was voted.
Events and traveling
Here is a breakdown of the budget spent on events. Please note that the activities started directly independently of the budget received and stewards and partners accepted to pay upfront the cost.
ETH Denver - Participation
David participated in ETH Denver including an ApeChain panel. The attached cost was $ 2082 . 6 USD for the flights and $ 1174 . 9 USD for 7 nights hotel accommodation for a grand total of: $ 3257 . 5 USD.
NFT Paris - Participation
DIM participated in NFT Paris including a mainstage interview. The attached cost was $ 166 USD for train tickets and $ 570 . 62 USD for 3 nights hotel accommodation for a grand total of: $ 736 , 62 USD.
Banana Conf - Participation & Sponsoring
DIM participated in Banana Conf in Tallin, Estonia including a mainstage keynote and panel discussions. The attached cost was $ 472 USD for plane tickets and $ 475 USD for 5 nights hotel accommodation for a grand total of: $ 947 USD.
The MWG sponsored the event for $ 10 , 000 USD corresponding to the Gold package. Including: ApeCoin Branding across the event (Screens, photo backdrops, Main stage etc.) speaker slots, a side event (boat tour)…
At the time of the event, the budget was yet to be received. Thank you to the Banana Conf team that accepted a delayed payment with no clear view on the delay at the time.
Paris Blockchain Week - Participation
DIM participated in Paris Blockchain Week and the Newconomics event as a panel speaker. The ticket was generously offered by the organizer and DIM covered his own transportation and accommodation.
NFC Lisbon - Participation
DIM participated in NFC Lisbon including a mainstage ApeChain (part of AIP- 414 ) and gaming/Metaverse panels. The attached cost was $ 511 USD for plane tickets and $ 659 USD for 4 nights hotel accommodation for a grand total of: $ 1155 USD.
Shooting Marcomm Sandbox video
DIM participated in a 1 -day shooting in Paris from the Marcomms WG about the Sandbox AIP project. The total attached cost was $ 139 , 5 USD for train tickets.
NFT Fest - Participation and Sponsoring
DIM participated in NFT Fest, Belgium including a mainstage keynote. The attached cost was $ 64 USD for train tickets, the hotel accommodation was taken care of by the organizers.
The MWG sponsored the event for $ 20 , 000 USD corresponding to the highest tier. Including: ApeCoin Branding across the event (Screens, photo backdrops, Main stage etc.), Main booth including customization, speaker slots…
At the time of the event, the budget was yet to be received. Thank you to the NFT Fest team that accepted a delayed payment with no clear view on the delay at the time.
EthCC Brussels - Participation
Immediately after NFC Fest, DIM participated in EthCC in Brussels. The pass was graciously offered by the organizers. The attached cost was $ 0 USD for train tickets as it was on the same tickets as NFT Fest and $ 395 USD for 3 nights hotel accommodation.
Foresight 2024 - Participation
David participated in Foresight 2024 . The attached cost was $ 571 USD for flight tickets and $ 651 USD for 3 nights hotel accommodation for a grand total of: $ 1226 . 68 USD.
IVS - Side event sponsoring
David participated and sponsored the APE In: IVS Millionaires Night. The MWG sponsored for a grand total of: $ 5 , 000 USD alongside the other working groups.
Gamescom - Participation
DIM participated in Gamescom in Koeln Germany. The attached cost was € 142 EUR for event tickets, € 95 EUR for train tickets and € 1082 EUR for 4 nights hotel accommodation for a grand total of: $ 1440 USD.
Korea Blockchain Week - Side events participation & Sponsoring
David participated in different side events during Korea Blockchain Week. The attached cost was $ 412 USD for flight tickets and $ 1534 USD for 6 nights hotel accommodation for a grand total of: $ 1952 USD.
A meetup at Bored & Hungry was sponsored for a total of $ 500 USD.
Alpine Partners Day and Creators Meetup in London
DIM participated in the Alpine Partners day in London and organized a Creators meetup including € 310 EUR for plane tickets and £ 362 GBP for 3 nights hotel accommodation for a total of $ 918 . 63 USD.
The meetup cost was 973 $ for 40 people and organized by Asif (Ape Concierge) who kindly paid upfront all costs.
Token 2049 - Side events participation and Sponsoring
Phil participated in different side events during Token 2049 , Singapore. The attached cost was $ 789 USD for plane tickets and $ 2811 USD for 7 nights hotel accommodation for a grand total of: $ 3593 USD.
$ 2000 USD were also spent to sponsor the F 1 community event to design and produce booth materials.
ApeFest: ApeCoin Creators Day - Organization
DIM is hosting the ApeCoin Creators Day on October 17 th. The attached cost so far is $ 2 , 250 USD corresponding to the Ape Hotel accommodation package including access to the infrastructure.
Custom merchandise, catering, signage, transportation and potential extras costs (if any) are not included yet.
ApeCoin Creators Assembly
Website creation and maintenance
$ 13 , 000 USD (half paid, $ 6 , 500 USD to be paid upon delivery of the website) were committed for the creation of the ApeCoin Creators Assembly website. The project is commissioned to Tiby from ApeTools.io. Active member of the APE Ecosystem.
Discord creation, security and maintenance
$ 4 , 888 . 37 USD were paid for the creation, security, bots and maintenance of the ApeCoin Creators Assembly Discord. The project is commissioned to Drew Security. Active member of the APE Ecosystem. As part of the GWG micro grants received by Drew recently, he decided to extend at no cost his services.
Branding
$ 4 , 200 USD were paid for the creation of the ApeCoin Creators Assembly branding. Including Logo and templates for social and events communication. The project was commissioned to Brazy. Active member of the APE Ecosystem.
Discord Mod and Space Host
$ 3 , 000 USD were paid to cryptosheep as a compensation for moderating the ACA Discord (private soft launch until the website is launched) and hosting a Creator Spotlight space a week. This corresponds to the period from September to November (included) 2024 .
ApeCoin Closet (Alpine collaboration)
Once Alpine was unveiled as the team sponsored by ApeCoin, the website apecoincloset.com was created and launched for the Miami GP weekend. During GP weekends, BAYC and MAYC can suit up as an F 1 drive to support the Alpine F 1 Team. The website generates a custom version of the ape and a custom X thumbnail when shared.
Webdesign: $ 2 , 000 USD were paid to allo who developed an ApeCoin x Alpine branded version of Bored Closet + updates each GP weekend.
Artwork(s): $ 1 , 000 USD were paid to Jacopo Lanza for creating filters for the website (BAYC/MAYC and other in progress).
Nifty Island Experience
The company Art Unchained is currently producing an ApeKin themed experience on Nifty Island. You can follow the Developer Diary on the ApeCoin Forum.
The cost attached is $ 20 , 000 USD (half paid and the other half to be paid upon delivery of the experience)? The cost includes the full experience creation (more than 70 unique 3 D assets and terraforming) and 3 months of additional content and game nights. 1 Game nights will be hosted every week and a new room will be unveiled during the first Game night of each month.
Game Sponsoring
A special mission in the game THE 8102 featuring ApeKin will be held from X to X and sponsored by the MWG with a prize pool of $ 3 , 500 APE ( 35 $APE to 100 winners) to be distributed on ApeChain.
Misc
Diverse items including domain names and goodies (stickers) were bought for a total of $ 269 . 5 USD.
A video series of 10 episodes was also commissioned to Otherguide, so far 3 were released and more are on the way once ApeChain is live. The total cost will be $ 2 , 000 and is yet to be paid.

Resignation from ApeCoin DAO Secretary Position

Content: All working group must be closed, some of the issues mentioned on Bojangle’s post are due to the current election process which is the same on all WG.
It does not mean all the good initiatives that came out of the WGs must be thrown under a bus, but they can live separately and led by the person who initiated them.

[Development diary] ApeKin experience on Nifty Island

Content: As announced a few weeks ago ApeKin is available on Nifty Island as avatar for ApeCoin holders.
This was just the first step of the plan. The company Art Unchained who was highly recommended by the Nifty Island community is commissioned by the ApeCoin Metaverse Working Group to build a dedicated Island Experience.
The idea is to involve the community as much as possible in this process that should take around 2 months to complete.
I will use this post to give updates about the process and also ask the community for feedback, starting with: ApeKin style!

UPDATE # 2 - October 6 th
Following the vote, the new version of ApeKin is in development. Meanwhile the island is taking shape as the core terraforming and landscaping is nearly complete. There are over 70 unique 3 D assets and building being crafted for the experience. The colossal temple design is in progress and of course with it comes many traps!
A little bit more patience before some visuals are unveiled as we want to keep as much surprise as possible…
