AIP-61: Multi-meta linked NFTs - Ecosystem Fund Allocation
by GuruOfTroyHill - No Role
Posted on: June 9, 2022, 3:14 p.m.
Content: This makes sense to me. I’d assume the plan on models is to wait until Otherside opens up at which point surely Yuga will release their models for the apes to play the game. At that point you can assess what they’ve done and compare to what you think you can do, you’re perhaps in the best position to speculate about the potential value in 3 rd-party skins. Hard for me to say without a deeper understanding of what Yuga will do, what you can do, and how different those are. IMO, let’s sit tight a couple months and await developments with Otherside. Just my 2 cents ofc.

AIP Idea: APE liquidity incentives for borrowing and lending APE on Ooki
by GuruOfTroyHill - No Role

Content: Everything you’ve said was also true about LUNA, and the people who owned that coin got rekt. To me, “read the code bro” isn’t a very compelling answer to how we should trust a protocol that’s less than a year old and has such a low market cap. Maybe there is no way to develop that level of trust so soon.
Barring a much more compelling argument that this protocol is rock solid trustworthy, I’m a hard NO. Too much risk for me. Maybe in a few years when there is a larger TVL and a longer history of not-getting-hacked I could be convinced. Just one ape’s opinion of course.

AIP Idea: APE liquidity incentives for borrowing and lending APE on Ooki

Content: Thanks you make some good points. I sense that your biggest obstacle to getting votes is going to be general concern about an unknown (to me anyways) and the inherent risk that comes with that. How do we trust the code, etc. If you’d like to address that, I promise at least one open mind as an audience. :grinning:

AIP-64: APE Coin Festival - Bringing NFT Communities Together

Content: Great idea. Low cost with potentially high impact, we don’t lose much if it fizzles for whatever reason. I could see this taking off very easily though, love it.

AIP-58: Framework for ApeDAO Records and the BAYC/MAYC Soundtrack - Ecosystem Fund Allocation

Content: Really cool idea as a longer-term aspiration for this project. + 1 to OP for pointing out that we don’t need to decide distribution to show support for the creation of the music. I like where this is going.

AIP-61: Multi-meta linked NFTs - Ecosystem Fund Allocation

Content: There’s a lot to love here. I admire your princess motivations, and the trailer seems pretty high quality. Overall my main concern is the cost, I’m not sure we’re getting $ 9 m of value. Then again, I plan to spend my time in Otherside and Yuga has already promised 3 D models for the bored ape universe so I’m not the ideal customer here.
Naively, maybe you could try creating one example character and let us see it moving around in these metaverses as a promo? Perhaps a side-by-side comparison with whatever Yuga is putting together will make the value proposition clearer. Just my 2 cents.

Content: There are a few proposals out to migrate to various chains, but there doesn’t appear to be a clear consensus at the moment about how to proceed.

AIP Idea: APE liquidity incentives for borrowing and lending APE on Ooki

Content: We have our own staking mechanic in the works AFAIK, it seems odd to incentivize staking elsewhere to me. Naively, I’d prefer we just offer a higher percentage yield in our own defined pools. I’m open to being convinced that partnering with a 3 rd party for staking would raise the yield that ape staking on our own would return. The business model just doesn’t make sense to me at the moment.

To create a news media platform to deeply cover BAYC/APE ecosystem
by GuruOfTroyHill - No Role
Posted on: June 3, 2022, 12:27 p.m.
Content: I think this is an interesting idea. My only hesitation is that the price tag seems large for what we’d get out of it. I think there’s value in a Bored-Ape-Universe media outlet, I’m not sure it’s $ 750 k / year type value. Open to being convinced otherwise though.

- ASEC: The price tag is mostly for stuff salaries. If $750k for a year sounds too much, I can suggest a few options:
To cut time of repoters, editors and guest posts - there will be less articles published, but maybe we don’t need much in the first year.
To hire less expirienced stuff that will require less funds. I personally don’t like the idea, but maybe the community is fine with less quality to save some funds.
Any other ideas?
- culturecodes.art: The price is very low for such project, and we definetelly need a news platform since the biggest part pf holders just don’t know about what happens in the community.
