AIP Potential Proposal: Building a Video Game Publisher in Ape Coin DAO. Thoughts?

nd it can become web 3 influencers-owned publisher
please, no. web 3 influencer clout is not a meaningful sales pitch in this context. and it’s counter-productive to $ape’s web 3 taint.
that said, brycent is doing a decent job of breaking the mold: what does him ‘joining’ look like to you and what role would he serve? apart from signaling support, would direct involvement be best left until content is ready to be distributed? at which point, we might have more clarity on productive distribution channels?

Great questions. Just look up the example I provided, Mad Mushroom by OTK.
You absolutely need more than influencers on the team (and honestly I should have used the term “content creators”), but the main job of any publisher is to market the product. This is not old days when you had to take care of distribution of CDs/DVDs, too - Steam, Epic store, and others take care of that. Today, 99% of the job is visibility. Everything else is irrelevant without it.
And some content creators are very smart and business-savvy. They’re not just good on camera. I think Brycent is one of those. So, imho, the model of Mad Mushroom is super-smart because it cuts on the biggest expense a publishing company would have, which is marketing. You just make smart influencers co-owners and then market through their channels/streams. They also are great beta-testers to select games, as they are real gamers, so this avoids hopefully publisher investing in rugs.

AIP-228: $APE for Bored Ape Yacht Club Discord ‘Club Mods’
by Marklar - No Role
Posted on: March 9, 2023, 11:40 a.m.
Content: Unpaid mods should not be a thing.
However, this feels like a Yuga issue moreso than a DAO issue.

- camol: I agree - and hopefully this can be the catalyst for change. As the DAO is a part of the ‘Yuga Ecosystem’ we can do our best to step-up when needed.
- Hangout: I agree, tbh between ApeCoin DAO Discourse and Discord I rarely go into the BAYC discord. Not to disparage it, but not seeing it as a ApeCoin DAO responsibility area.
I do agree mods should be paid, but seems logical in this case it should be yuga paying.

Brainstorming - How would you attract new users and their participation in the DAO?
by Marklar - No Role
Posted on: Nov. 3, 2022, 4:18 p.m.
Content: As suggested in AIP- 118 , ApeCoin DAO owns a marketplace and pays marketplace fees to $ape stakers.
$APE utility. Although outside the scope of this proposal, ApeCoin DAO should consider an $APE staking module that remits finder’s fees directly to stakers (potentially acting as membership to a marketplace subDAO / working group).

Should we ask Cartan Group to scope setting up the DAO to accept funds?

Content: Yes, this is critical infrastructure that is needed to mitigate risks to DAO and participants that also drives a utility feedback loop.

AIP-121: Transparency Act for Ecosystem Fund Allocation
by Marklar - No Role
Posted on: Oct. 1, 2022, 9:10 p.m.
Content: Yeah, Special Council should lead the way. @Novocrypto read this after and concur. For me, there’s also something to self-disclosure without compulsion that at least gives me implicit trust.
My general fear is a lot of NFT natives missed DeFi summer and as these worlds collides we’re starting the trusted v trustless learning curve all over again. If your proposal only goes so far as ‘trust me’, then hopefully there’s enough folks to call that out during draft.
But Yeesh participation and infra for a $ 5 B FDV DAO is bad right now. So much capital to push the space forward. But lots to learn still.

AIP-121: Transparency Act for Ecosystem Fund Allocation
by Marklar - No Role
Posted on: Oct. 1, 2022, 9:02 p.m.
Content: This is a tough question. I’d generally say Special Council as, imo, they have the largest personal risks attributable to DAO activity and have the best grasp on subjective materiality.
I think I’ve derived KYC happens and that alleviates a tremendous amount of concern for me, at least in terms of direct funding.
But there’s nothing stated anywhere that confirms this. Stack on the power of float as free capital, and KYC is an unknown that may not cover all the scenarios it should.
