@Mantis - Theres always pros/cons to using a well known designer vs unknown. I thanks the reason I wanted to start this thread to see peoples opinions on this. Appreciate your insights here

Content: I think there is a generally favorable opinion among pretty much the entire Yuga ecosystem that we want high quality, interesting, inclusive and wide assortment of cool merch, specifically coming out of the DAO.
While others have tried to tackle this issue with some designs or ideas for a merch shop/marketplace - it feels like a very tough lift at once, considering all the moving parts where you need a big team consisting of people who are experts in designing, sourcing, online ship building, shipping and all the other supply chain logistical costs that come with it as well.
One of my ideas is that we have a discussion as a community to see what type of designers or people in the fashion world we want to reach out to and at the very least get started on step 1 (and how step 1 would even look)
Ideally this would look like
1 - Finding/ contacting and setting up a shortlist of 3 - 4 talented designers who are excited to work with the DAO on web 3 merch and have extensive experience in that world.
2 - Setting up a proposal for a framework of an initial brandbook - this would be a piece of work/guidelines that anyone can build merch proposals on top of, not just the designer we are choosing.
3 - Using the brandbook, create mockups/designs for a few pieces of merch.
4 - Utilize Apecoin governance to really put up some designs for a vote on what direction the DAO wants the designer to focus on.
5 - Iterate on the designs and/or take a diff route based on outcome.
6 - Create a much larger proposal to do a small merch run. Proposal would require a lot of info on working with the DAO/special council/foundation to provide details on suppliers, timelines, costs etc.
What do you think? Lets get the ball rolling on this.

Establish DAO Communications Team and Processes

The Communications Team has set up a secure Discord that can be accessed immediately. However, before committing to this option, the team will engage the community to assess if better technical/secure options are available. This discussion platform would include but not be limited to including:
hey, cool proposal guys. Only part I want to comment on is this - discord is fairly straightfwd & cheap to setup but it has its drawbacks that can be resolved by a custom website for the nuances of what a DAO requires. If that’s something that the community decides. Will this be funded through this or require another proposal?

- Vulkan: Thanks for taking the time to read through the proposal @akhilttm and we appreciate the feedback! Our initial solution of a Discord server would be a working solution until we could assess others (with the help of the community) to find one that works best. Subsequently, a separate proposal would be introduced to fund this potential switch.

Content: Hey, appreciate you checking out the proposal man.
This q is less so to do with the proposal and more so to do with the business side. This service really isn’t looking to directly compete with existing social media sites such as Twitter, Instagram, or wherever else.
It is much more complimentary to them. One of the things we definitely will be doing is having cross posting, specifically to Twitter to begin with.
You can definitely go ahead and start a social media page on Instagram as an example for any NFT. This could be the platform where you log a lot of milestones that are achieved on other platforms (i.e growth, engagement stats, viral moments).
The grant will allow us to provide an API to pretty much every single marketplace for free so that it allows you to feel the impact of your brand building + extract value from posts that you make directly.
Have a lot more in terms of strategy that isn’t necessarily in the proposal. Always down to chat to clarify.

Content: After speaking with @wabaam about the proposal - one of the ideas that came out of that discussion was an additional utility to apecoin in this proposal. This adds no extra cost or time to develop as we can use existing platform like Snapshot to integrate this in our plans.
This was the section added to the proposal
EDIT - Later on, you will see a CCAAS section on working with NFT owners who want to create branding and develop the IP of their pages through storytelling, art creation, videos etc.
Something that will not cost any money OR time to development but add additional utility to ApeCoin would be to allow a snapshot vote of curated pages to allow apecoin holders to choose which NFT pages to develop.
For example - as a platform, we would choose 3 NFT’s that we would put up to a vote asking something like - “Which of these NFT’s should we focus on developing first with our team?”
This would add another layer of governance that is added to apecoin holders.

Content: My 2 c on top of others good comments … Would love to bring on someone in smaller liaison role who is heavily involved in other successful DAOs. Outside perspective of someone not even part of apecoin or bayc ecosystem can be valuable. Think there are DAOs out there that are at the forefront of innovation we can learn best practices from.
