AIP-227: Nothersight - Public goods for building DAOs based on islands in the Otherside
by ayvee - No Role

Content: Thanks for the question @capetaintrippy.
The main idea of the map will be to navigate these islands with the help of different filters.
These filters will include social filters where you would be able to see different aspects such as the total number of Twitter followers an island has, the total reach an island has, and the average number of followers of the members of an island.
Or guild filters that could show the territory of different guilds (the island will show as the territory of the guild with the most % on that island).
Or with the Forj map, you will be able to see where the concentration of builders are located and buy a land part of the most concentrated island.
Since all the islands are nameable you will also be able to search for the islands with their names if you happen to have a friend that has said something like “we’re building something on Tortuga and you should definitely be a part of it!”
Of course, all islands won’t be established DAOs right away. Setting up DAOs will take time. But once a couple of DAOs based on islands are set up you will also be able to filter out the islands with active DAOs.
There are so many filters that could be useful that we will constantly add as we build out features for the platform.
A rough sketch of the map is available in my above reply

AIP-265: 2/3 “Supermajority” Requirement to Alter Fundamental Tenets of ApeCoin DAO and its Operations
by ayvee - No Role

Content: Hey @br 00 no !
Thanks for raising this topic.
“Abstain” votes should count. Meaning count as “Not in Favor”. I’m guessing some / many believe that’s already the case, so if nothing else this should be clarified?
I’m pretty sure Abstain is there as a neutral option for people to show that they participated but not affect the scales. Basically, if I don’t think I can help vote on a specific topic I don’t have enough knowledge of then I’ll choose to abstain. That way I’m still showing that I’m active but not voting. Checkout AIP- 200 for more info on Abstain.
Pass threshold “in Favor” should be higher than 50 %. I’ll start by suggesting 70 %.
When a vote passes with a simple majority of 50 %, it means that only half of the voters supported the decision. The other half either did not support it or were indifferent. Therefore, it may not accurately reflect the will of the majority.
I suggest 2 / 3 ( 66 . 67 %) which seems to be a logical proportion since this way the amount of the majority will always be twice as much or more than the minority. Twice as many should be decisive enough.

2/3 seems reasonable too. Just something materially higher than 50%. Possibly matters of greater importance or cost could require different thresholds?
Understood re: abstain. I’ve made use of the option. It may not be clear to everyone though, but more so there could be a situation (it may have happened in the vote for new Administrators?) in which the winning vote has a lower total than “Abstain”. There’s nothing necessarily wrong with that, but if more people bother to vote “Abstain” than could be bothered to form an opinion maybe it just isn’t that captivating or worthwhile an idea? Could also be more complex than necessary? Or not.
Just worth considering and discussing.
Grateful to have such great feedback on this already.
- Sasha: 2/3 is a lot imho. Keep in mind that achieving 66% vote is not just 16% harder, but probably 2x as hard as achieving 50% vote.
If we are ever to move away from 51/49, I’d suggest 55/45 or at most 60/40.
There’s no perfect number here. But you don’t want to stifle innovation and exacerbate ‘partisanship’ by making votes super hard to pass. Moving numbers far from each other also puts extreme importance on the whales, as AIPs will become near-impossible to pass without them, and people will have to pander to those votes, which compromises integrity of AIPs.
51/49 isn’t so bad. After all, we should all have some basic trust in each other that we may disagree, but hopefully none of us will vote on obviously awful ideas that hurt the ecosystem. There’s quite a distance from “ehh, I don’t think it’s good enough” to “waste of money”, meaning that even if 49% are “ehh” it may still be a good proposal, as time might tell.
All in all, my opinion is 55/45 should be as far as we take this, if the council decides to take it anywhere.

Content: We asked the mods to edit the draft:
Updated the Abstract and Motivation parts to highlight the platform as a tool for managing DAOs rather than a marketplace since the marketplace is only there to facilitate the purchase of island-specific otherdeeds.
Below is a mock-up for our map we’ve been working on that will help visualize and navigate the islands of the otherside.

Content: Thanks for the reply @CryptoLogically, we are referring to the island aspect part of the deeds. However, in our definition, all otherdeeds are part of one island or another. They vary in size and some are way bigger than others (which could look like it’s mainland but we still count that chunk of deeds as its own island).

Proposal Name
Nothersight - Public goods for building DAOs based on islands in the Otherside
Proposal Category
Ecosystem Fund Allocation
Abstract
This proposal presents a platform powered by ApeCoin that empowers community members on Otherdeed islands to form and manage as DAOs. The main feature of the platform is a set of tools that enable community members to easily build, connect, and interact with one another as they manage their islands together.
Through the platform, community members can find statistics and information on their desired islands. The platform also serves as a marketplace/aggregator that facilitates the process of finding and becoming a part of an island with other community members who share the same interests and goals.
Overall, the platform’s primary focus is on providing tools for DAOs, with the marketplace/aggregator feature serving as a secondary aspect that supports the formation and management of island communities.
Motivation
We were on the hunt for ways to bring value to the Yuga ecosystem, and that’s when we stumbled upon the untapped potential of Otherdeed’s diverse types of land, including islands.
Why Islands?
We believe that builders are together stronger, however, smaller robust groups of builders can move faster and get things done quicker. Thus, organizing these groups based on islands would be a logical step for building on the otherside.
Unfortunately, there were no existing tools to effectively manage this information. This gap in the market inspired us to create ‘Nothersight.’
Nothersight is mainly a platform for managing islands in the form of DAOs, however, we also plan to facilitate our users with a marketplace that effectively displays the information and statistics focused on the island aspects of the Otherside. With our innovative technology, we visualize and organize these detached pieces of land, offering valuable insights and opportunities.
Imagine an island full of Artists as a union on the Otherside. This concept is similar to a homeowner association, where members collaborate and make agreements to work towards a common goal. By providing a space for island-based sub-communities and/or DAOs, we aim to increase engagement and foster a thriving community within the Otherside space.
We are passionate about the future of the Otherside and how it will revolutionize social interaction as a premium decentralized metaverse platform. Our excitement for this new era drives us to constantly push the boundaries of what’s possible with Nothersight.
About the author
I’m Ayvee (Twitter), Fullstack Dev/UXUI. I’ve been a blockchain / full-stack developer since January 2022 . I’ve built things, including blockchain applications using Golang in a cosmos-based chain, solidity smart contracts, serverless API backends, frontends, and UXUI designs for web-based applications. However, what has caught my interest the most within this broad crypto space is the NFT space. I went down the rabbit hole not too long after starting my job as a developer and have since then, gone deeper and deeper into the space, more specifically the Otherside & the Yuga ecosystem.
I co-founded Nudi Labs alongside Freeed & Jamie Chow where we focus on building tools for a better web 3 . We have helped a couple of projects with developing smart contracts, frontends, and backends, as well as building our own products. After honing our skills in the traditional 9 - 5 work environment for over a year together, we have decided to fully commit to our shared passion for building on the Yuga Ecosystem, which inspires and motivates us every day.
About my team at Nudi Labs
Our team is made up of the hardest-working and most creative individuals I have had the pleasure of collaborating with.
@jamiech 0 w (Twitter), Strategy/Marketing, a passionate enthusiast in the world of blockchain and NFTs. It all started when he conducted research for their university thesis in late 2018 , and since then, his love for NFTs has grown immensely. After graduating in 2020 , Jamie entered the marketing field, where he honed their skills in data utilization, campaign management, online/offline event hosting, and brand-building content creation with web 2 - 2 . 5 companies. In 2022 , Jamie delved deeper into the web 3 space by organizing airdrop campaigns and community growth initiatives for various projects, gaining a native understanding of the field. He’s Nudi Labs’ spontaneous writer.
@freeed (Twitter), Fullstack Dev/Solidity, became a part of the blockchain ecosystem in 2019 and had since been exploring and learning about its various aspects. However, due to the pandemic in 2020 , Freeed missed out on several opportunities and events that could have further enriched their experience. In 2021 , Freeed was able to jumpstart their journey at a web 2 . 5 company as a full-stack developer, where they specialized in serverless architecture system design, smart contract development using solidity and wasm, and frontend development using Typescript and Javascript frameworks. His passion for technology and skills only grew stronger in 2022 and turned Freeed into a degen in the world of blockchain.
Rationale
Nothersight aligns with the APE Community’s mission and guiding values by providing valuable infrastructure and opportunities for all Otherside users. We believe that our goal of fostering increased engagement within the Otherside space aligns with the community’s mission of curating activities and promoting growth in the space. The platform and its ability to provide valuable insights further align with the community’s guiding values of creating a dynamic and supportive environment for all members.
