voter comments which I can’t address since the AIP thread is now closed
Funny that voter manipulation is wide-open during active voting… it’s visible who voted and how they voted, ergo can be pre$$ured to make or change votes, and UNofficial forums for discussion such as Coms, Twitter and Discord - where anyone can say anything w/o accountability - are going full-tilt, yet the only official place for info - the AIP thread itself - is closed.
Quite the system. It must benefit someone, somehow, but not AIP authors or a credible & transparent grants process.

AIP-337: Re-evaluating ApeCoin DAO Special Council Salaries Structure
by br00no - No Role
Posted on: Sept. 16, 2023, 1:57 p.m.
Content: Welcome!
Joker 12 :
a salary review should come after a review of what is expected of the committee, time / hours / function etc and […] a more comprehensive review should be taken.
Agreed. We have no such clarity.

AIP-333: Downsizing ApeCoin DAO Special Council Members
by br00no - No Role

Moonlyght:
ack. How would you suggest to do it, if any?
Unsure. Maybe start with clarity in what’s actually done.
Evil:
Only 3 special council members looking over all the crucial aspect of AIP process would drastically effect the current time it takes for an entire process of AIP ideas to final voting.
Maybe true but a huge presumption given we have no idea what is specifically done by who, how often or for how long.

AIP-333: Downsizing ApeCoin DAO Special Council Members
by br00no - No Role
Posted on: Sept. 15, 2023, 2:24 p.m.
Content:
Moonlyght:
initiate a dialogue with the Administrators (WebSlinger), to implement and execute the proposed downsize to the Special Council member position.
TIMELINE
If the AIP is approved, execution on how to approach the downisize will start immediately.
Is this AIP to dialogue w/ WebSlinger about how to approach this, or is it a vote to actually affect a reduction in SC staffing?
How do we reconcile this AIP absent clarity on what SC actually does, who does it best, and how often they do it?
In other words, given:
Moonlyght:
Including all current, forthcoming and future terms detailed in AIP- 137 and AIP- 138 .
… how would it be decided which of the 5 would be removed?
Next election cycle for SC isn’t that far off. Consider amending the AIP to simply not replace the 2 (?) who would be stepping down at that time?

This needs to be addressed in the AIP, I’ll edit as soon as I gather more feedback. How would you suggest to do it, if any?

That’s not how you operate an equitable environment. Especially not a grants DAO. That’s how politics works. And like politics, complete with lobbyists and all manner of shenanigans, stuff like that is rife for abuse and corruption.
Correct, and it’s a very toxic form of centralization. Same as IRL.
SmartAPE:
When you go out to get a grant - for anything - you never, ever, have to do any of that. You write up your grant, stick within the guidelines, present the materials needed in support of the request. Then wait to hear back. That’s it. And that’s precisely what the founders of the DAO envisioned. And they put it in writing - right here.
Yep.
Vulkan:
The information requested in AIP- 282 was shared with the community here:
That might as well have just said “f-u”. It’s a vague, meaningless word salad akin to the breathless disclaimer in pharma ads that mentions everything under the sun as a CYA. Transparent, it isn’t.
Cool that we tried though!

Ape Assembly Meeting #7 Agenda
by br00no - No Role
Posted on: Sept. 14, 2023, 1:54 a.m.
Content: Thanks for these clarifications.
We also can’t force whomever owns / controls the Discord server to hand it over, if that’s an issue, just like it isn’t up to us to decide “where something sits legally” (that’s up to lawmakers and court judges, unless I misunderstand the phrase in this context).
There’s no clarity or certainty on what “meaningfully involved in the decisions…” means. Arguably the only ones “meaningfully involved in the decisions” are whales and large voting delegations since they’re the ones actually making the decisions a very high percentage of the time, while the rest of the DAO does the leg work of setting up what they’ll be voting / deciding on.

- bigbull: Being the owner from a technical sense doesn’t mean someone is the owner from a legal sense.
This issue needs to be addressed, even WG0 summary in their summary (not voted on by the dao) suggests it should goto marcomms in the future.
Also the AIP-239 which the scope includes the working group guidelines AS WELL AS the Governance Working Group shows the evolution of WG0 to the Ape Assembly but it also shows that the community function will in the future be under the Marcomms area. Also the fact that the costs for the discord are paid now by GWG budget. Previously various costs were paid by the ApeCoin Foundation.
Given this factual data the Discord issue must be addressed and the Ape Assembly is the best group and platform to solve this issue.
If someone doesn’t hand it over technically, which the technical owner has not suggested meaning they would not withhold the asset. Then you are right there are solutions:
Create a new discord (not the ideal solution). Based on AA CAP or ApeCoin.eth AIP to do so.
Legal solution based on theft of an asset (not ideal, also I don’t think that the technical administrator has an intention to go this way).
Therefore the best is to have it transferred and managed based on the voting of the Ape Assembly. If after the vote is complete and there are any issues the other less preferable options would have to be examined.

I think we’re all in agreement here. Which is specifically what most of us have been saying. Unless and until the voting system is changed to be more equitable, nothing tangible is going to get done. At all.

Incentivised voting in the Ape Assembly?

we only need 10 % to vote each time to have a decent quorum
According to who, or what?
Why do we need 100 for a “decent quorum” and why is 100 with say 40 being disinterested voters randomly picking a vote to get paid better than 60 voters who are well informed and care?
People keep pulling random numbers out of thin air in this DAO for different purposes, and with no regard to whether those numbers are even quality over quantity. Choose quality.

Incentivised voting in the Ape Assembly?
by br00no - No Role
Posted on: Sept. 12, 2023, 2:26 a.m.
Content: No. It accomplishes nothing needed, useful or important, further compromises voting (ppl only doing it for rewards), and would make the DAO look beyond desperate and embarrassing.
Can we please stop adopting the worst, most corrupt inefficient decision making processes found IRL?

AIP-313: Preserve Privacy During Voting Period
by br00no - No Role
Posted on: Aug. 4, 2023, 12:03 p.m.
Content: If the length of time required for an AIP to go from idea to draft to vote in a well-organized format on the only official forum, plus being featured / discussed in DAO-funded media, in Spaces, on Discord, etc. isn’t enough time for discussion or canvassing, anyone still confused should be asking not voting.
There’s plenty of voter harassment and corruption potential in AIP votes too. Shielded voting would make that tougher.
