AIP-555: Rebranding ApeCoin: Transition from Ape Skull to New Gorilla Logo

Rebranding ApeCoin: Transition from Ape Skull to New Gorilla Logo
TEAM DESCRIPTION:
Author - Captain Trippy - former SC and current Banana Bill advisor.
PROPOSAL DESCRIPTION:
This AIP proposes to change the current ApeCoin logo from the ape skull to the new gorilla logo. This rebranding initiative aims to refresh the ApeCoin identity, aligning it with the evolving vision and values of the ApeCoin ecosystem while also enhancing its visual appeal and recognition within the broader crypto community. This AIP also aims to make a more clear distinction between the BAYC community and the DAO community. With the launch of ApeChain, the DAO now has its north star and I believe it is important for it to have its own unique brand/ identity. Updating the logo achieves that objective while also signaling that both the DAO and ApeChain is the place to ape for all, and not just BAYC.

BENEFIT TO APECOIN ECOSYSTEM:
1 . Unique Branding that fits the culture of the DAO and ApeChain and is more clearly differentiated from BAYC.
2 . Enhanced Recognition comes from the unique branding across the wider crypto ecosystem and world.
STEPS TO IMPLEMENT:
1 . Logo Transition: Implement the logo change across all ApeCoin and ApeChain platforms, including the website, social media, marketing materials and any third parties showcasing the token.
2 . Official Announcement: Make an official announcement regarding the logo change to the community and stakeholders.
REPORTING EXPECTATIONS:
The expectation is that this proposal would be implemented by the DAO’s administrative team. The community should regularly review the impact of this proposal. If accepted, the administration and the community should review the impact of the updates after the 3 -month period for conflict ends.
OVERALL COST:
“Total amount requested from the ApeCoin Ecosystem Fund = $ 0 .”
Upon approval, The Foundation would be expected to update the logo across all ApeCoin platforms, including the website, social media, marketing materials and any third parties showcasing the token, and make an official announcement regarding the logo change to the community and stakeholders.

The second author is left blank. Is this a typo?
Interesting in this AIP you are listed as an advisor to the Banana Bill, but this was banned from the moderators to being added to AIP-466 Author description.
The idea of broader brand appeal could be interesting and enable the Ape Foundation to have its own IP independent from a Yuga licence to use the current ApeCoin Logo.

- furiousanger: Amazing you came to this conclusion only after taking $250,000 as SC, and then securing yourself $270,000 for a further two years as advisor to bananas bill. If you’d have worked it out sooner we’d have saved a pretty penny.

stop working groups. sunset SC.
I have a similar experience with SC with some participating and giving more than full time and others rarely ever showing up.
bullish on APECHAIN. Time to do a reset on foundation structure. glad to know we still have @Waabam and @BoredApeG to see this through.
Thank you for your leadership and time with the DAO, @BojangleGuy!

My only hope is that if we do deprecate the current staking situation, that we can at least implement some staking in some capacity for Apechain.

Strategic Token Swaps and Delegations with other DAOs for Improved Treasury Diversification and Enhanced Governance Alignment

Content: PROPOSAL NAME:
Strategic Token Swaps and Delegations with other DAOs for Improved Treasury Diversification and Enhanced Governance Alignment
TEAM DESCRIPTION:
Captain Trippy - ApeCoin DAO Special Council
PROPOSAL DESCRIPTION
This AIP proposes granting the ApeCoin Foundation discretionary power to engage in strategic token swaps and/ or delegations with other established DAOs, utilizing up to 15 million APE of the ApeCoin treasury. These swaps aim to achieve strategic alignment with other ecosystems, diversify the DAO’s treasury holdings, and facilitate mutual representation in each other’s governance processes.
BENEFIT TO APECOIN ECOSYSTEM:
Strategic Partnerships: Token swaps with aligned DAOs can open up new avenues for collaboration and mutual support.
Treasury Diversification: By diversifying the types of assets held, the ApeCoin DAO can reduce risk and increase the resilience of its financial holdings.
Enhanced Governance Participation: Participating in other DAOs’ governance allows ApeCoin to have strong representation in numerous strategic locations across web 3 and allows for increased governance participation in ApeCoin DAO.
Community Engagement: These strategic alignments can drive further engagement from the community, as members can participate in broader governance activities.
DEFINITIONS:
Token Swap: An exchange of tokens between two parties that allows each to diversify their holdings or gain strategic advantages.
Strategic Alignment: Partnerships or collaborations that align with the DAO’s long-term goals and objectives.
Governance Representation: Participation in the decision-making process of another organization, typically through voting rights acquired via token ownership.
STEPS TO IMPLEMENT
Identification of Potential DAO Partners: Research and identify potential DAOs that align with ApeCoin’s strategic goals for potential token swaps.
Community Consultation: Engage with the ApeCoin community to solicit feedback on proposed partnerships and terms of swaps.
Negotiation of Terms: Negotiate the terms of the token swaps with selected DAOs, ensuring alignment with ApeCoin’s strategic interests. Work with Foundation legal team on executing agreements.
Execution of Token Swaps: Conduct the token swaps within the set discretionary limit of up to 15 million APE of the treasury, under the oversight of the Ape Foundation.
Ongoing Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor the outcomes of the token swaps and regularly report back to the community on performance and strategic value.
OVERALL COST:
15 million ApeCoin
REPORTING EXPECTATIONS:
It is the responsibility of the Foundation to report on the quarterly transparency report the current holdings held by the Foundation, including any tokens both sent to other DAOs or received by other DAOs into our treasury.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
The ApeCoin Foundation will ensure that all token swaps are conducted transparently, with regular updates provided to the community.
This AIP aims to empower the ApeCoin DAO with the flexibility to strategically position itself within Web 3 , enhancing its stability, reach, and influence through carefully managed token swaps.
It is not the intent of the ApeCoin Foundation to execute these swaps with the intent to sell and commercial terms with that understanding should reflect that intention over a period of time, while also allowing the flexibility of use in the future if the need should arise.
While feedback from the community will be consulted, there could be times a decision needs to be made without naming the other party. In such cases, the Foundation has the discretion to make the decision without broader community input.
Community input does not imply that each negotiated swap would go to community vote.

TRUST is at an all time low right now so I’d love more detail around this. Do we get to decide on each swap via a vote? Or will it simply be we can give feedback on what the foundation intends, which can (and often is) ignored?
I keep seeing efforts to remove important decisions from the hands of the community, instead they happen behind closed doors with very little transparency and accountability.
Highlighting this point for people (below) - we’ll be unable to know if we believe the DAO aligns with ours, as we’ll simply not know who they are until after - “TRUST ME BRO” (I think it’s known as).

Tl;dr - One implication here will be the addition of up to 15m $ape into our voting. TRUST is extremely low atm so it’s imperative the community is heavily involved in identifying DAOs that “align” (redacted cannot ever work). Also a community snapshot vote must be mandatory for each token swap approval.

Token swaps with aligned DAOs
Good question to what this would include? SandboxDAO? MOCA DAO? Arbitrum DAO?
How would the 15m be split? Who decides who gets what? What would be the maximum amount of APE a delegation would be able to swap?

I don’t know of any promises made beyond what was proposed as an AIP for this staking mechanism back in 2022 , which I believe the DAO has the ability to amend. I do not know of any legal risks but will keep this in mind.
I am not going to publicly speculate this aspect of it, but I will say, with ApeChain launch around the corner, there should be no shortage of use cases for $ape in the very near future.

Content: PROPOSAL NAME: Ending ApeCoin Staking on NFTs
TEAM DESCRIPTION:
CaptainTrippy - ApeCoin DAO Special Council
PROPOSAL DESCRIPTION:
This AIP proposes to terminate ApeCoin staking at the end of “Year 2 day 183 ” on NFTs from AIP- 21 and the associated AIPs 4 and 5 which are referenced in AIP- 21 , all of which are regarding ApeCoin staking. This specifically includes an end to the staking for ApeCoin and the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT ecosystem: Bored Ape Yacht Club, Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC), and Bored Ape Kennel Club (BAKC). The primary intention is to prevent further dilution of ApeCoin and to reallocate reserved funds for staking back to the DAO treasury for more strategic and impactful purposes.
BENEFIT TO APECOIN ECOSYSTEM
Reducing Dilution: By ending ApeCoin staking on NFTs from AIPs 4 , 5 , and 21 , we prevent the continuous dilution of ApeCoin from staking at a time the funds could be better preserved and/or used for more meaningful ecosystem growth and development.
Strategic Resource Allocation: The saved funds can be reinvested in more strategic initiatives that benefit the development and expansion of our ecosystem such as ApeChain.
DAO Treasury Preservation: Protecting our treasury is critical to the long term success of our ecosystem. Preserving the remaining ApeCoin that is to be allocated over “year 2 , days 184 - 365 ”, and “year 3 ” better positions us to make more strategic decisions in the future and strengthens the position of the DAO treasury.
DEFINITIONS:
DAO Treasury: A reserve of funds held by our decentralized autonomous organization, used for various community driven initiatives.
STEPS TO IMPLEMENT:
Work with necessary parties on remaining token allocations into contract and necessary steps for completion of staking at end of “Year 2 Day 183 ”.
OVERALL COST:
This AIP saves the DAO 34 , 125 , 000 ApeCoin
REPORTING EXPECTATIONS:
Update the community on staking end date.

AIP-456: Airdrop for Long-Term Holders and Stakers

- VonFrontin: Some initial thoughts:
First, we could set categories for dApps the DAO is looking to have created (e.g. gaming, SocialFi, etc). This may help drive some structure to the effort and ensure we are building out the type of ecosystem we all want to see (conversely, we could also just leave it wide open and let the market decide).
In terms of KPIs, I think it needs to be a combination of TVL on ApeChain as well as something akin to Daily Active Users. For all the reasons we seek to have more decentralization in voting, I wouldn’t want a few larger wallets to simply be able to lock up their $APE and win the prize. If the goal here is adoption and scale, we need to have more than one way of measuring it IMO.
Separate from the competition itself, I think it would behoove the DAO to also have an efficient funding mechanism to help these teams start building. Whether a streamlined AIP process (where there is a standard template specific for this initiative) or an AIP that carves out funding for small grants related to ApeChain building (similar to Thank Apes) it would help us scale more quickly.
I’ll continue to give this some thought. Thanks for the challenge here.
