Replace NFT-based APE Staking

Content: Hi @david_metastreet - loved your writeup, agree with your thesis in theory.
Drawing from your experience and background, are there any potential adverse effects that you (& team) are aware of that may come about from this de-tethering? - I know its probably a tired mental exercise but humor me with a scenario (if any) that you deem to be the most probable even if the chances of it happening are low
Would there be a window to claim?
How do we solve the use case of users who are away and/or unaware of this claim but have their assets collateralized in a lending protocol? - could this scenario be gamed? if yes, is there an elegant solution to prevent this?
thanks!

ssp 1111 :
I’d appreciate you sharing the SINGLE ISSUE that I’m running on with everyone in your network. Sure, there are several big challenges that we as a DAO need to tackle in 2024 , and in my view clarifying SC’s roles and responsibilities will help reduce some confusion and open up lanes for teams, authors, ideas to flourish that currently, we’re expecting the SC to do.
You’re coming from a very unique and interesting perspective that I havent thought of. Appreciate your insight and your time SSP. Best of luck to you ser

- ssp1111: Thanks FS.
I’ll take “unique and interesting perspective” as a compliment , no doubt.
I also think it’s an important detail of the DAO structure that many in the community do not know about, are not paying attention to and could be a critical weakness in the years to come.
Sure, we trust our 5 Special Council members now, and sure, let’s keep increasing their roles and responsibilities and influence - but the very existence for large delegations/wallets to swing a vote and install a candidate of their choosing should put us on high alert. And while we’ll have conversations about the voting process in due course, in the meantime we ought to be limiting the powers of the Special Council by reverting them back to being a BOARD.
And with this BOARD in place, we can finally get around to the matter of Conflicts of Interest - topic for another day.
Education is my scope - your spreading the good word is my hope.
Peace – SSP

@BoredApeG - Special Council Nomination 01/2024

Content: @BoredApeG, your track record thus far speaks for itself.
I sent all the candidates the same questions but you are in a unique position in that you are currently serving and have already answered those questions last round. That being said, I’m curious on your thoughts for the following:
Now that you have served, what skillset or experience do you feel are absolutely required for the SC position?
If elected, what is the one item you feel passionate about and would like to see accomplished during your second tenure within the DAO?
How many hours would you say you dedicate to this role on avg per week?
Currently, many of the proposals are determined by large wallets, there are many grumblings about it though I stand neutral on this; if possible, would you change this? and if so, how and why?
Thank you and best of luck,

- BoredApeG: Thank you always for your support and activities around the ApeCoin DAO ecosystem, @foxSlightly
Now that you have served, what skillset or experience do you feel are absolutely required for the SC position?
Our ApeCoin ecosystem is a DAO, not a dictatorship. Therefore, to be an effective SC member, one needs to be a proven Collaborative Leader. Without these types of leadership skills, it will be difficult to accomplish anything meaningful while on SC and/or around the DAO.
I elaborate more in my thread here: https://x.com/BoredApeG/status/1729208138891657340?s=20
If elected, what is the one item you feel passionate about and would like to see accomplished during your second tenure within the DAO?
I align with @ssp1111 single issue candidacy “to reduce the confusion around the Special Council role and duties by returning the SC back to being THE BOARD as originally envisioned…” Ultimately, accomplishing this will contribute to solving for much needed activity elsewhere in the ecosystem and for creating a more diverse group of SC in the future.
How many hours would you say you dedicate to this role on avg per week?
Nowadays no less than 30 direct hours, with more indirectly due to the other activities I do both within the ApeCoin DAO and web3 outside of Special Council; the work I do is always complimentary to my work within SC which allows me to always think about how I can best serve in my capacity as SC. Also please note that during the peak times of the administrative transition this year I was spending 50+ hours/week directly on SC work.
Currently, many of the proposals are determined by large wallets, there are many grumblings about it though I stand neutral on this; if possible, would you change this? and if so, how and why?
I am always open to improvements throughout our governance process, but I am realist when it comes to potentially taking away the voting power of those who have accumulated them in our ecosystem. It would take collaborative effort, that among other things, honors the work of these holders. I would not personally change this because that is not the role of Special Council, but I would love to work with the community to workshop through potential changes.

Content: Hi @Hazel, I am asking all candidates the following same questions:
If elected, what is the one item you feel passionate about and would like to see accomplished during your tenure within the DAO?
What is an area of expertise that you will be bringing to the table?
Are there any factors in your life that may limit your time and ability to serve? (Running a business, extensive traveling, secret agent for the SEC, etc…)
What is your least favorite thing right now with our DAO in its current state?
Currently, many of the proposals are determined by large wallets, there are many grumblings about it though I stand neutral on this; if possible, would you change this? and if so, how and why?
Will you be an active participant in the DAO even if unelected?
Thank you and best of luck,

- Hazel: 1.I would like to see ape chain accomplished during my tenure within the Dao.
I am a founding member of both the Chinese Ape Club (CAC) and BAKC group, both of which operate as DAO organizations. Over the past year, we have fostered connections among Ape communities spanning 20 distinct regions and unifying a community of over 500 holders. My belief in the transference of community-building expertise from the Ape community to fortify and unite the ApeCoin community forms the basis of my approach.
2.Functioning as a cultural facilitator, my commitment lies in translating NFT culture into tangible real-world scenarios and broadening the awareness of Ape culture. During multiple visits to Japan, I strategically propagated Ape culture in traditional marketplaces, eliciting interest across diverse demographics. Notably, I successfully introduced Ape culture to prestigious department stores such as Lane Crawford in Shanghai, Chengdu, and Hong Kong, simultaneously showcasing Ape co-branded products. Collaborations with esteemed entities like the U.S.-based Supreme brand and the NTWRK platform, both online and offline, were orchestrated to engage the younger generation in comprehending Ape culture. I am confident in my capability to seamlessly integrate ApeCoin culture into the tangible world, cultivating a profound understanding among the next generation.
In my capacity as a part-time lecturer at the university and as the secretary at the School of Culture and Arts, my specialization lies in imparting knowledge on NFT and web3 culture to the younger generations. I extend the influence of NFT culture into novel domains, orchestrating exhibitions at prestigious locations such as the Hong Kong Peninsula Hotel, Japan’s PARCO shopping centers, and Malaysia’s Sunway Resort. These initiatives have not only garnered considerable media attention but have also successfully engaged the public. Recognizing the imperative nature of cultural heritage, I consistently incorporate Ape culture into my lectures and speaking engagements at universities and forums. Looking ahead, my strategic vision involves diversifying the dissemination channels and amplifying the impact of DAO through multifaceted approaches.
I have previously held the position of Director of Corporate Management and Finance, overseeing the efficient utilization of resources and implementing fiscal policies to align with the DAO’s objectives. In my role, I will also be responsible for supervising DAO service providers, building trust and garnering support within the DAO community.
Drawing on my background in media, I bring relevant resources and expertise to effectively communicate brand culture. My goal is to propagate the fundamental principles and ethos of the DAO, converting more individuals into advocates and contributors to the DAO’s advancement.
In the realm of web2, I pursued a degree in medicine and actively participated in regular medical clinics throughout my academic years. My dedication to volunteer work extends to providing services and assistance to those in need. Notably, I facilitated a philanthropic collaboration between the esteemed brand Supreme and Ape IP. I am committed to upholding these principles and values within the ApeCoin DAO.
3.First,There is lack of engagement in DAO among ApeCoin community members.
Then, the Ape communities (BAYC/MAYC/BAKC) and other communities are not actively participating in ApeCoin DAO governance.
Finally, the insufficient promotion of ApeCoin’s culture has resulted in a lack of new participants among ApeCoin holders.
4.I am neutral on this matter. As I mention,We need to encourage more participation and builder.
Actually,I am the holder of Ape and Apeoin.I try my best to build and let more builder to join. I hosted 10+ activies this year and I will keep building up.
Thank you for the question.

- Uzi: Hi @foxSlightly,
Sorry I was away yesterday and will respond to this today.
Thank you for your questions - I think that they are very well thought-out.
Best, Uzi
- Uzi: Hi Fox,
Here we go and sorry for the delay:
Passionate Objective:
I’m really passionate about streamlining DAO processes, particularly in expediting grant agreements. I propose initiating contract discussions during Phase Six (Admin Review) to ensure grant agreements are finalised within two weeks, significantly accelerating project implementation and enhancing ApeCoin’s value.
Area of Expertise:
My expertise spans being a Managing Director and Executive Board Member in a billion-pound business, a Non-Executive Director & Art Gallery Owner, a consultant, and a Chartered Project Manager and Surveyor. I bring a wealth of Web 2.0 experience to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of Web 3.0 initiatives, combining traditional business acumen with my degen spirit of Web 3.0.
Time Commitment:
As a Managing Director, my role is flexible andoccupies about three days a week, supplemented by 1-day-a-month commitment as a Non-Exec Director and Co-Founder of an Art Gallery. My consultancy is largely managed by my team, requiring about a day a month from me as well. Therefore, I am fully prepared to dedicate the necessary time to the DAO without any hindrances.
DAO’s Current State Concern:
My primary concern with our DAO is the extended duration from proposal submission to project implementation. I intend to focus on streamlining this process, ensuring quicker and “proper” execution of projects to deliver value to ApeCoin.
Voting Dynamics:
The influence of large wallets is a nuanced issue. I advocate for a system where delegated wallets operate like mini DAOs, aggregating individual votes within their communities for fairness. However, I also recognise the weight of substantial investments in ApeCoin and believe in respecting the voting power that comes with substantial financial commitment.
Continued Participation:
Absolutely, my involvement in the DAO goes beyond holding a position. I am committed to proposing a strategic AIP to ensure the correct implementation of proposals, contributing ideas, and supporting the community’s goals, regardless of the election outcome.
