AIP-316: Fantasy MMORPG Game - Powered Exclusively By ApeCoin
by normie - Accepted AIP Author
Posted on: Aug. 3, 2023, 2:48 p.m.
Content: One of the most detailed and well thought out AIPs I have read recently. Thank you for sharing this with us!
It is clear that you know your stuff and that this game could be one of the most fun Web 3 games. I hope the DAO can bring this into the ecosystem, possibly with some milestone based disbursement (for risk mitigation but ensuring that it does not create a bureaucratic system).
Good luck.

And yes, though this is a license, it can be structured based on milestones. But that puts all the risks on me. I am going to be around - and if something happens to me, my studios (which my wife and daughter both work for) - won’t close. But this DAO - like any other corp - is only responsible for itself. I have seen corps come and go at the most inopportune moment in time.
And so, if the AIP passes and the DAO wishes to negotiate milestones - which I have no objections to btw - they have to be structured in a manner that mitigates risk for both sides - most especially me.
And they can’t be based on the 4 phases in the AIP because those are based on project tasking, not expenditures. So it’s not like we’re going to divide a $5M license fee into 4 milestones @ $1.25M each. Especially since I would be spending some of those funds hiring additional people from here and elsewhere to speed up the project. So, that doesn’t work in this case. And it’s the trap that most studios - even experienced ones - fall into. You have a milestone with a $50K payment due, then you find that it actually costs $100K. Now you can’t deliver on the milestone - and thus no $50K. There are many permutations to this, but I won’t bore you with the details.
And also, all the funds would have to be allocated and put into escrow (I don’t even know how that would work with crypto funds). And that escrow is responsible for the payouts when the contractually agreed upon milestones are met. So, if the DAO goes bye-bye, I still get the funds. And if something happens to the project, well, no escrow payment either.
Anyway, I believe that such discussions happen during the Admin Review process, which goes toward revising the AIP before it goes to vote.

Thanks!

AIP-299: ApeCoin merch for the ApeFest

Content: Nice. I think our AIP ideas can be a good reinforcing loop for each other.
If this AIP does get approved, the merch handover should actually happen during the meetup you mentioned.

Content: Most of these AIPs seem much bigger in scope. I envisage this to be a very focused and much smaller initiative than the ones you shared.

AIP-299: ApeCoin merch for the ApeFest

Content: Proposal Name
ApeCoin merch for the ApeFest
Proposal Category
Ecosystem Fund Allocation
Abstract
I would like the ApeCoin DAO to give away (for free) ApeCoin DAO merch to Ape Fest participants meeting some criteria. This is aimed to increase the awareness about, and participation in, the DAO among the wider Yuga ecosystem.
Author Description
I’m a bot developer and have worked with many notable NFT projects in various capacities. I have advised two projects about merch. The research phase involved talking to several NFT project teams who had issued merch to their communities and understanding their pain points, what worked etc. I have also spoken to a couple of turnkey merch service providers which are popular in the NFT space.
Team Description
Not applicable
Motivation
The participation in our DAO is significantly lower than the desired level.
The DAO has not experimented with merch in a meaningful way yet.
People love merch.
Good quality merch provides a great return on investment.
This AIP intends to address all of these.
This can also be treated like an MVP for future merch activations.
Rationale
This AIP proposes doing a small merch run which will be distributed during the ApeFest. This will minimize the shipping cost as the entire merch package can be sent to one (or two) volunteers in HK.
We can give away merch to participants only if they meet all of these conditions:
Assembly role in the ApeCoin DAO discord
Attending ApeFest
This will ensure that a small merch batch will be sufficient and our costs are minimal. These conditions will also ensure that only the most enthusiastic participants in the ecosystem are rewarded.
Benefit to ApeCoin Ecosystem
Increase participation meaningfully among the most enthusiastic audience (ApeFest attendance is a good proxy for enthusiasm for the ecosystem and “meaningful participation” can be ascertained by linking our giveaway to apply only to Trust Level 2 holders).
Word of mouth - Imagine this conversation repeated 100 + times at ApeFest. “That’s a great tshirt/ cap, where did you get it?” “I got it from the ApeCoin DAO because I’m active in the ApeCoin discord.” “Wow, I didn’t even know something like it existed.”
Minimal cost: We can have a control over quality and costs. We could get something basic (but good quality) for $ 80 per person (cap + hoodie + t-shirt). Limiting to 100 merch bundles, the total cost would be ~$ 8 k.
Steps to implement, timeline
Stage 1 : If this AIP gets approved, the initial outlay required will be ~$ 300 . These funds will be used to procure and ship merch samples (plain, uncustomized) to 3 different users for their feedback. If the quality is found to be satisfactory, we can proceed further. If it is not satisfactory, this AIP can be deemed completed or failed and no further disbursement or work will be done on this.
Stage 2 : Assuming we proceed, we can reserve one week for merch design. From 2 - 3 designs for each product, the final designs can be decided through a discord vote among Ape Assembly members. Eligible users would need to DM me on this forum to claim their merch kits. Once 50 kits are claimed by eligible users ( 1 kit = 1 cap + 1 hoodie + 1 t-shirt), we can place an order to procure and ship these. A payment of $ 4 k will be required at this point.
Stage 3 : At this point, we can take another vote in the Ape Assembly on whether we should do another run of 50 merch kits. (We would not need another batch if the 50 th merch kit gets claimed with just a couple of weeks to go for the ApeFest, for example). If the vote does pass, we can place an order for the remainder of the merch kits which are claimed till 1 month before the ApeFest. The final payment at this point would be 80 * the number of kits to be ordered.
Overall Cost
A maximum cost of $ 8 , 300
I understand that the ApeCoin discord server is not a Foundation asset and that dependence on it would require approval by the ApeCoin DAO Discord moderation team.

Giving away ApeCoin DAO merch (for free) to ApeFest attendees (with some conditions) could have a ton of benefits and increase the participation significantly at a very small cost.
As someone who has done this type of thing time and time again for my various games, it’s a great way to spread the word and to engage people at various events. We’ve done t-shirts, pens, writing pads, cups - even socks! We give them at our booths (E3, GDC, ComicCon, GamesCon etc), as well as outside the event spaces, for which we hire local people to hand them out.

AIP-296: AI ChatBot in Discord Powered by ApeCoin and Helix

I think a good approach is to wait for the rollout of @CEOofWeb 3 . 0 ’s chatbot. After a couple of weeks of use, the community will be in a better place to decide if we really want to move on to something else.

- helixashu: Of course, it’s the community’s call on when and which solution. To help with the assessment, some of the question we want to ask is as follows:
What’s the accuracy. Easily testable with some humans in the loop?
Does it work with my core channels such as Discord, Website, and email?
Can it hand over to a human agent when it can’t answer?
What kind of actionable analytics does the product provide to improve the response quality over time?
How easy is it to maintain the system and retrain the bot with new documents.?
How secure is it?
