AIP-479: Coffee with Captain Powered by $APE on ApeChain
by ssp1111 - Accepted AIP Author
Posted on: June 23, 2024, 10:25 a.m.
Content: Hey Guys,
Finally, CWC Powered by ApeCoin!
Like @SmartAPE says, keep it simple, don’t overthink it and certainly don’t promise a bunch of line items and then get bogged down in reporting – ugh.
Just a couple of notes for context, that may or may not be relevant:
@ThreadGuy and @Leap_xyz did propose a Spaces Sponsorship in the past asking for $ 420 k for 12 months – it was met with enthusiasm for the collab but pushback for the $$ ask. How it would have fared in Snapshot is anyone’s guess, as the authors never followed through.
AIP- 246 MarComms Charter was co-authored by @Adz and myself with an eye towards the bigger picture, specifically in creating the foundational infrastructure for all Marketing & Communications initiatives and AIPs moving forward - brand consistency, voice, assets, brand bible, etc. Adz and I always came from the position that empowering our members was the purpose of all working groups, not just an entity to attempt to do all the work themselves.
As Derek reminds us, AIP- 351 Communications Action Team was set-up between the three of us to help the incoming MarComms Stewards get a running start and we asked for 199 k APE which included the costs for legal entity set-up, etc. I cannot for the life of me remember why we withdrew it - Steve’s bestseller schedule or something? Remind me.
AIP- 290 was also a request for underwriting, and for comparison’s sake, I had suggested to @krafter_eth a request of $ 60 k for 12 months of his podcast Powered by Apecoin.
And then as @SmartAPE so often highlights, ApeComms should be a funded group and it’s not like we haven’t tried - both AIP- 142 and AIP- 175 failed to pass with funding attached, and AIP- 348 passed as a zero-cost proposal.
In summary, don’t over promise, don’t change the consistency and flavour of CWC in the mornings lest you find yourself catering to a different audience and make it a simple request for sponsorship of the show without getting artificially entwined with other groups in the ecosystem. You do you.
Them’s just my own opinions, nothing I say is on behalf of the ApeCoin DAO or the Foundation, opinions expressed are solely for entertainment and educational purposes

Indeed. However, I think it’s a case of timing. With ApeChain now on the horizon, and given that the DAO doesn’t have anything even remotely resembling an effective marketing and comms team (no offense to MarComms, just being factual here) similar to ApeComms, CwC etc. now may be the time for you ApeComms guys to revisit that, and do a consolidated AIP.
Marketing is a vital part of any revenue driven business; and despite my misgivings about it, if ApeChain is to be anything resembling a success, it must be given a chance to extend beyond this small internet enclave of degens. And only marketing - not sh*tposting - can do that.

Introducing ApeCoinLive: A Weekly Spectacle of Fun and Prizes
Join us every Saturday for ApeCoinLive, a captivating weekly draw and online event where the Web 3 community comes together to experience the excitement of the ApeCoin DAO like never before. Hosted by the Wild Ideas Redacted Secret Team (W.I.R.S.T.), ApeCoinLive is your ticket to an evening filled with education, entertainment, and exhilarating draws and awards.
Picture This:
As the virtual curtains rise, audiences worldwide are treated to lively discussions, insights, and insider chatter from the W.I.R.S.T. team and trusted Web 3 media hosts as they set the stage for the night’s main event: the ping-pong-bolls.
With bated breath, viewers watch as the ping-pong spherules tumble in the rumbler and the first of five numbers is revealed—a number one. And then, one by one, the orbs are picked and the digits emerge, building anticipation until the final number completes the sequence. And just like that, a winner is revealed and the image of the lucky MAYC PFP graces the screen.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there; it’s rinse and repeat for the BAYC draw, obviously 4 numbers this time, and again confirmations, claim windows, champagne and confetti ends the night with two lucky winners.
(Note: The Accounting firm at PrizeWaddersHousePaupers confirms that the ID has not won before and the champagne pops :champagne: and the confetti drops :confetti_ball: as the winner is given 48 hours to claim their prize).
Why We’re Doing This:
Our mission? To inject some much-needed fun and excitement into the Web 3 timeline. We’re here to uplift, engage, and ignite the spirit of the community. The DAO could do with some magic and we’re starting with our beloved Apes who could use a little pick-me-up. They down bad.
What’s the Plan?:
Welcome to the ApeCoinLive Weekly Raffle, a thrilling opportunity for holders of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) NFTs to vie for incredible prizes. And while we kick things off with BAYC and MAYC, rest assured, we’ve got big plans to expand the ball picker to include Mocas, Moonbirds, and beyond. But remember, patience is key, young Padawan.
The Rewards:
Get ready for some worthwhile awards:
MAYC Award: $ 25 , 000
BAYC Award: $ 100 , 000
(both awards are dripped to the token over 12 months)
The Investment:
With 52 weeks at $ 125 , 000 per week, the total investment rings in at a modest $ 6 . 5 million—approximately 3 million APE at current prices. And hey, that’s less than what you’d find in a single Coinbase Custodial Wallet that costs the DAO hundreds of thousands in fees!
How It Works:
Here’s the scoop:
The W.I.R.S.T. team will partner with trusted Web 3 influencers to be our media partners who will host the live event and to spread the word and amplify the excitement (think RugRadio, ThreadGuy, etc).
Winners will have a 48 hour window to claim their Award. Miss the deadline? Oh well, the prize rolls into a separate draw exclusively for ALL ApeCoin holders (now that’s sticky).
Claiming your prize is as simple as showing up on Spaces or YouTube to share the good news or tweeting about your win. It’s all about ApeCoin flowers and positive exposure to the DAO.
Once the winners are announced, our trusty Foundation or Watcher of the Wallets steps in to transfer the awards to the winning NFT holders, confirming the transaction (this is called the Machi Rule).
Most of the process is automated, from the draw to the distribution of drips, with W.I.R.S.T. overseeing key operations.
Questions? Comments? Send? We’re here to make magic happen, one WIRST idea at a time.
See you at ApeCoinLive! :tada: :tada: :tada:

Youtube? We have a Youtube?
Could we make it that you have to claim your winnings via signing a TX that is associated with where your asset is held. Plus one of the above options?
I think this is a fun idea.

Reimbursement for Health Coverage and Expenses for Ape Foundation, Governance, and Metaverse Employees
by ssp1111 - Accepted AIP Author
Posted on: Feb. 14, 2024, 7:07 p.m.
Content: The health and well-being of our community are indeed important, and discussions around how we can support each other are always valued.
However, it’s important to clarify that as a DAO, we operate under a different model than traditional corporations. Our contributors are engaged as freelancers or independent contractors, not employees. This distinction is crucial because it fundamentally shapes our relationship with them, including the legal and financial frameworks within which we operate.
Given this structure, and considering that the compensation for our service providers typically ranges between $ 8 , 000 to $ 10 , 000 a month—a figure well above the average pay in many jurisdictions—it’s expected that individuals would manage their own health coverage and medical expenses within their compensation packages.
While I understand the intention behind your proposal, implementing a health coverage reimbursement program would challenge our operational and regulatory boundaries as a DAO. Instead, let’s just encourage our contributors to leverage their generous compensation to secure the necessary health insurance and medical care according to their personal or family needs.
Peace – SSP

- LiveFast9986: You raised excellent issues with what I was initially suggesting and now I’m rethinking the general implementation.
Maybe a reimbursement program isn’t the proper way to go about this given our current structure. What about a general bonus to all of them that is with the intent that it is used towards health and medical related expenses. Yes, im aware we would have no control over how they use it, but I’m hopeful that it will be and will actually improve someones current circumstances.
- bigbull: There are two kinds here:
AIP recipients
Direct contractors to the Foundation.
Working Groups are AIP recipients.
So far no working group has included medical in the expenses of their budgets.
There is nothing stopping them putting this in for the Stewards. However, Stewards live in different jurisdictions, some with decent healthcare from the state, some with limited free options and only private coverage. Also Stewards could be directors, contractor’s or employees of the entity that receives the AIP (each Working Group makes their choices on this). Their relationship to the entity will impact if health care provision is even a viable option. Also the Working Groups have initiatives and third party contractors.
Also if an AIP recipient is a for profit entity they can be inventivised by growing their company, which they have equity in and also may get dividends from the profit. The GWG is setup as a Non Profit, so Stewards do not have that benefit. They also cannot receive dividends.
Direct contractors are for example, the Special Council who are also not employees of the Foundation, they are listed on the website as a “Board”.

Learn about ApeCoin, the ApeCoin DAO, and the APE Foundation.
I have worked in providing consulting services for both small and large firms. Generally employees cost at least 2 times their salary to a company (all the overheads: unemployment benefits; taxes; healthcare; operational overhead etc). Usually their billable rates that are charged to clients at 3 to 5 times the Labour take home of the employee (before personal income tax deductions). This is to cover for downtime when they aren’t billed, profits, IP value, items listed above, etc.
Hence, as @ssp1111 said DAOs are a new organisational model.

Part of what makes being part of the DAO so exciting is being instrumental in creating these new structures and paradigms.

AIP-395: .APE - Launching the Real .APE Top-Level Domain on the Internet
by ssp1111 - Accepted AIP Author
Posted on: Jan. 28, 2024, 11:59 a.m.
Content: Fred, congrats on submitting such a powerful proposal.
I didn’t realize it was such a lengthy and cumbersome process ( 500 -page application :exploding_head:), wow.
The team you’ve assembled is top-notch and seems totally capable of executing.
Just a couple of observations and questions:
Brand Decision or Ecosystem Fund Allocation – I’m wondering if this should be in the latter as you are asking for funds
Glad to see the breakdown of expenses and it looks like $ 2 m of the $ 3 m goes to brand awareness and marketing. I’m a huge proponent of marketing, so I’d be interested to know what duration of time the $ 2 m is earmarked for – is this for a year or longer?
Are there any reasons that this may not succeed?
By the way, great proposal – love the detail, love the graphics.
Look forward to your answers and the community feedback.

- mxchael: Thanks SSP! Michael here from the D3 team.
Owning and operating the .APE TLD will allow us to control a critical part of our brand identity and broader messaging in the web3 space. We see .APE as a potential core ApeCoin branding and marketing asset, which warrants evaluation as a Brand Decision.
That being said, we understand the significant resources required for this endeavor, however, we believe the long-term benefits of launching .APE and shepherding its ecosystem far outweigh the upfront costs.
A robust multi-channel marketing strategy will be critical for driving discovery, awareness, and adoption of .APE at the outset. The outlined budget will enable D3 to stand up .APE entirely from the ICANN application, community formation, to the TLD delegation, which we expect to occur over the next 24-36 months. We expect to utilize a combination of digital and real-world activations to achieve critical mass adoption and usage of .APE names and domains. Similar to TLDs we have operated in the past including .XYZ, .INC, .LINK, we are confident .APE can become a self-sufficient asset with ApeCoin DAO’s commitment.
There are a small number of risks mainly associated with the submission of the TLD application. However, we are confident that D3’s application for .APE, on behalf of and for the benefit of the ApeCoin DAO, represents the strongest choice as D3 and its affiliates represent ICANN-affiliated entities with proven experience submitting successful TLD applications (.XYZ and more).
