  Content: I got to know Buuvei over months early in the DAO - both through extended conversations and through his work with ApeCoin through his many Thank APE contributions. What I noticed - both in his words and actions - is his intense commitment to the DAO, and his capability across many areas of contribution. He cares, and it’s authentic. He isn’t here for the money, a title, or fanfare. He’s here because he cares and he wants to make this community better. I’m a big fan, and we’re better as a community because he’s here.

  Content: I’ve gotten to know SSP through his work in the DAO over more than a year. He is one of the most consistent contributors to ApeCoin - and his voice and experience have helped and supported us throughout the DAO. I admire - and you see this in his commitment to being a single issue candidates - that when SSP cares about something (like our DAO), he does whatever is needed to provide support.

  Content: @Amplify was one of the first people I met in our DAO. When we connected, I remember thinking, “He’s good… and he’s really, really nice.” Since then, as I’ve gotten to see and work with him in so many different contexts around the DAO - I’ve gotten to experience what everyone else here sees too: His heart bleeds ApeCoin. He’s always here, helping, asking how he can make a difference. He invites people in. And he always tries to do better than yesterday. I feel grateful for his contributions to our DAO and can’t wait to see what comes next.

  Content: I got to know and work with @BoredApeG more than a year ago, when he started on our Thank APE board - months before he ever thought about running for Special Counsel. I saw then what has become so apparent for anyone who has seen him work in the DAO: he was special… he is special. His passion for our ApeCoin community is endless, he is a true operator, an uncompromising advocate for our community, and a doer who gets things done. Frankly, I don’t know how he manages to get so much done - and always with a smile on his face. I feel grateful for his contributions to our community.

  Content: I am a huge fan of Halina. She and I joined the DAO at a similar time, and she was one of the first people I spoke with upon joining. My impression after our first conversation: smart, thoughtful, infinitely passionate about ApeCoin. Since then, I’ve worked with Halina in a variety of capacities. Most relevant for ApeCoin, she’s served on our Thank APE board, and been a voice of Thank APE to our community for over a year. During that time, my admiration for her has only grown. She deeply cares about this community, and she’s put her heart, soul, and intellect into making it better.

We have supported ApeCoin at scale through 2023 - funding more projects for the DAO than the entire AIP process combined (more below). In addition to our work with ApeCoin, we support Arbitrum, Optimism, and others. We are trusted by more than 150 k contributors, ~ 60 % contribute value across ecosystems. We have scaled platforms and protocols to support millions of users, and we are funded by OG web 3 VCs, including HashKey Capital, Youbi Capital, BitScale, Continue Capital, Lightning Capital, and Gaingels - early investors in many of the leading L 1 , L 2 , and DeFi blockchains and protocols. Most importantly, we are Apes and OG members of this community. Our first significant community-wide deployment was this one - Thank APE. The board has standing meetings twice a week for a few hours, and they work on Thank APE specific projects throughout the week. Our motivation is to create enormous value for ApeCoin DAO - by rewarding and recognizing valuable decentralized contributions to our DAO. We’ve been doing this since our first Thank APE Proposal AIP- 124 passed almost a year ago. Our motivation - combined with our tech and expertise, and your partnership - has helped support significant accomplishments since we launched in April of this year. We’ve done it all through a bear market, decreasing ApeCoin value, and wide-ranging coordination problems in the DAO: Thank APE Renewal Designs 1600 × 1200 112 KB Recently, big proposals have passed that reflect a shared realization that we must create more value now. Examples include AIP- 297 , AIP- 304 , and AIP- 317 - all of which are seeking to shake things up and help build value in new, big ways for our DAO. While the impact of these proposals isn’t yet known, the DAO recognized they we must invest to ignite an ecosystem whose future depends on us. Thank APE is proposing another big bet - one that, we believe, addresses the biggest need in the DAO: We must create greater value, utility, and efficiency in our DAO now. To do that, our Thank APE - Phase II will support effective decision-making and allocation of resources - and attract, fund, and coordinate top talent that quickly addresses the biggest needs in the DAO. Our DAO has passed some proposals - but few have created significant impact yet. Our DAO has organized into various groups - but much is still left to be desired. Our DAO has built some things - but not enough people use them and none generate revenue. Thank APE has already been a consistent force in ApeCoin DAO fixated on solving this massive need. We’ve funded and coordinated the building of hundreds of projects creating value in alignment with the feedback of our community and the needs of our DAO. Background: Our ApeCoin community was founded with a simple mission of driving culture forward into the metaverse. This mission requires building a thriving ecosystem around our culture and community. A year ago, we had a treasury war chest valued in the billions. Today that same treasury is valued at a fraction of what it was. This is largely because the DAO has generally had a hard time consistently attracting top talent to contribute to our ecosystem. There is a simple reason for this: Passing an AIP in our DAO environment is hard. It requires that a builder also be a diplomat and a salesperson, not get paid for months, and - at times - put themselves in the crosshairs of public misinformation campaigns from people with their own interests. Top builders don’t need to put themselves through that kind of pain. They can fund their projects in easier ways than our AIP process provides. For example, ThriveCoin is funded by well-recognized web 3 VCs, all of which provided an easiest, less stressful path than passing an ApeCoin AIP. Thank APE has been changing this. Through Thank APE, top builders have been able to quickly and easily contribute to ApeCoin DAO in ways that are aligned with the biggest needs of our DAO. The impact is that we’ve attracted thousands of new contributors that has resulted in hundreds of new projects for ApeCoin DAO.   • chaps: hello! i think this is an interesting aip, which can create tons of value to apecoin. my main concern is asking for 3.3m in apecoin which you will control and decide how to give it back to the community? wouldn’t it be like thank ape owning an apecoin subdao and taking all decisions on those 3.3 m? thrivegiraffe: 3.36 million APE allocated back to the community in the form of rewards.   Content: Gm ApeCoin family, On behalf of the Thank APE board and ThriveCoin team, I’m sharing an update on our accepted AIP- 124 . Thank APE leverages ThriveCoin and the Thrive Protocol to reward ApeCoin members with a total of 200 , 000 APE for valuable contributions to the DAO. We do it in a way that is automated, scalable, and on-chain. Join us in Season 3 and beyond: Website: thankape.com Twitter: Thank Ape ApeCoin Discord: ApeCoin ThriveCoin Discord: ThriveCoin Pre-Thank APE Era Before the Thank APE proposal passed, ApeCoin DAO struggled to realize its vast potential. We were one of the world’s most visible DAOs, yet we had ~ 70 to 80 active monthly Forum (Discourse) and Discord members, the only places where ApeCoin was measuring contribution activity. Additionally, contributions across web 3 , web 2 , and IRL weren’t easily measurable, and often went unrecognized. In fact, only a handful of total contributors ~ 1 % of lifetime contributors on the Forum (Discourse) and Discord - received any reward for their efforts. Thank APE Season 1 ( 2 / 24 / 23 - 5 / 2 / 23 ): With the introduction of Thank APE Season 1 from February to April (alongside other important governance initiatives like WG 0 + a revitalized foundation board), we helped drive a seismic shift in the community engagement landscape: The number of measurable active contributors dramatically spiked to 595 (ThriveCoin). We recorded on-chain a total of 1 , 758 measured contributions. This was a huge leap from mostly unknown, untracked, and off-chain contribution data. We auto-validated, auto-rewarded, and auto-recorded on-chain 30 + unique contribution types across web 3 , web 2 , and IRL. We launched collaborations with approved DAO infrastructure, including Karma, Catapult, and Boring Security. Season 1 ’s Moonshot event, the AIP-a-thon, produced over 40 governance proposals from various community members, including many first-time AIP authors. Our work helped 2 x Discourse Forum daily user visits and 3 x daily active users, leading to a more active and engaged community. 16 , 750 APE was distributed to the community for their wide variety of contributions. 5 , 808 APE was donated by the community to Riley’s Children’s Hospital (Twitter link). Screenshot 2023 - 07 - 06 at 10 . 56 . 05 PM 1920 × 1129 116 KB image 1280 × 720 84 KB image 1280 × 720 79 . 8 KB Thank APE Season 2 ( 5 / 2 / 23 - 7 / 6 / 23 ): Season 2 built on the momentum of Season 1 and stepped it up another level: Measurable active contributors increased from 595 to 1 , 297 (ThriveCoin), a 118 % increase over Season 1 (and ~ 5 x our stated Milestone goal of 10 % monthly growth of core DAO engagement metrics!) We recorded 3 , 951 measured contributions, a 125 % increase over Season 1 . We awarded 36 , 645 APE to the community. We supported 50 + simultaneous unique contributions across web 3 , web 2 , and IRL. We had special time-bound contributions each week throughout the Season. We introduced new collaborations with ApeCoin DAO partner, Ledger, for the Quest to mint a Proof of Knowledge NFT, in addition to maintaining existing collaborations. The “Ape In” Art contest served as the Moonshot event for Season 2 . It rallied the artistic prowess of the community, rewarding over 100 artists for their captivating artworks. The contest not only added a creative dimension to community engagement but also drove more than 4 , 500 Twitter shares and over one million Twitter engagements with ApeCoin-inspired art. The Art Contest entries were widely reused & shared to show ApeCoin support, and even spawned an AIP from one of the artists! This outpouring of community attention and support amplified the visibility and reach of ApeCoin as a leader driving culture in the space. We have been highlighted as a model initiative passed by ApeCoin DAO across the space, including on Twitter Spaces with ApeCoin, ApeCoin Special Council members, Ladies of BAYC, ApeComms, the Grateful Show, Mocaverse, Leap, Mutant Hounds, and more. image 1489 × 2048 282 KB Just a few of our amazing Art Contest Finalists: image 655 × 900 88 . 4 KB Thank APE Learning Thank APE is designed to act as an evolutionary system - a learning system. As the tech gets more feedback, it can adapt to ensure we are rewarding the right people and contributions. And as the board gets more feedback, they can adapt to ensure optimal levels of value are being driven + we are inhibiting bots and bad actors. Our learning and evolving was on display in the first two Seasons of Thank APE. The vast majority of attempts to misuse or farm ApeCoin were addressed - with active intervention from the board and layers of protection provided by the tech. Still, we weren’t perfect - nor were we designed to be. But we were constantly improving - by design. One area of learning we didn’t expect - for example - is the negative impact of the perception of farming. As expected, many people attempted to farm rewards across Discord, Discourse Forums, and Twitter. This activity was generally addressed with active intervention and bot and bad actor protection. These people, on balance, wasted their time and money. But attempted-farmers still clogged up our Thank APE channel in Discord, created fake user accounts on Discourse, and made fake Twitter contributions. While we technically stopped most of their bad behavior, the attempts were still distracting, and made some people feel there was a bigger problem at hand. We are continuing to work on improving this experience for Season 3 - in addition to continued tech innovation, the board is removing and replacing contribution types that people were attempting to farm (largely unsuccessfully). As new learning comes up, we are excited to address it too. In tech - especially web 3 - it’s never about perfect. But if we learn, and use that learning to push ourselves to be better than the last time… then we feel confident we’re on the right track! Thank APE: Looking Ahead We’re excited to continue leveling up our impact in Thank APE Season 3 and beyond. Every month… every Season… we want to create more impact than ever. We very much still feel like we’re just getting started! We will share more about our planning, progress, and continued learning in comments attached to this post. Additionally, we look forward to continuing to collaborate with other movers and shakers across the DAO - including with DAO Stewards, Working Groups, the Ape Assembly, and passed AIPs.
