[Mission Request] Marquee governance hackathon
by Gonna.eth - This user is a moderator, govNERD
Posted on: Oct. 29, 2024, 10:55 a.m.
Content: Hi @Cryptogallo
Is the hackathon intended to take place in 2024 , or would there be flexibility for additional preparation time?
Generally, grants are considered to have a 1 -year threshold unless the reviewers approve something different in an application.
Would we be able to onboard additional sponsors for the hackathon?
I don’t see a problem as long as the Granted OP are directed to OP Mainnet, but applying will give the reviewers more context to answer this question.
Will the Optimism team be involved in the event’s organization or participation?
The application can’t request support from The Foundation, OP Labs, or any other governance group. If you get commitment from any member is their personal affiliation
To ensure full tax compliance, is there a legal entity we should reference for invoicing in order to receive the grant?
Your request is either locked for a year or must be distributed in the form of OP tokens. I’ll send this question to The Foundation’s legal team for clarification.
You have until November 5 th (next Tuesday) to apply. It is the last cycle of grants during this season.

Season 6: [DRAFT] Standard Rollup Charter
by Gonna.eth - govNERD, This user is a moderator

Content:
500 × 500 5 . 4 KB system:
Role Configuration Exceptions
Certain chains’ L 1 ProxyAdmin role shall satisfy the Standard Rollup Criteria, without the default address 0 x 5 a 0 Aae 59 D 09 fccBdDb 6 C 6 CcEB 07 B 7279367 C 3 d 2 A, so long as that role is a 3 / 3 gnosis SAFE between the Chain Governor, Optimism Foundation, and Security Council. These chains are:
Base
Unichain
These Chain Governors have publicly committed to using their upgrade key consistent with the “Normal Operation” and “Emergency Response ” sections of the Security Council Charter.
While not currently anticipated, the Optimism Foundation may propose expansions of this list from time to time, subject to governance approval via the Protocol Upgrade process.
I believe that for each chain included under this role, one developer selected by that chain should be added to the Security Council. This developer would serve not only as a voter but also as a technical representative who is kept updated on the latest changes within their chain and understands the implications of any upgrades. This approach would ensure more informed decision-making while maintaining alignment with each chain’s specific technical requirements.
If something should happen to a particular chain this person will be a direct channel between the Security Council and the specific chain.

Is completing a GOV Mission outside of the GOV RPGF round scope?
by Gonna.eth - govNERD, This user is a moderator
Posted on: Oct. 24, 2024, 10:01 a.m.
Content: RF 6 specifically rewards contributions to Optimism Governance, and under the category “Governance Infrastructure & Tooling,” it clearly states:
Not eligible: Resources for Governance Onboarding, including documentation, educational videos, or any other resources aimed at explaining Optimism Governance.
Similarly, under the category “Governance Leadership,” the guidelines specify:
Not-Eligible: Governance onboarding and promotion initiatives.
Based on this, it appears your project aligns with the criteria deemed “not eligible.”
You can review the complete RF 6 design details here.
While I understand that there currently isn’t an RF round that directly supports this type of project, and I agree that this is a gap that could be addressed by the Foundation, it does not justify applying to a round where the project doesn’t fit, as that would mean breaking the rules.
