Retro Funding 6: Impact Attestation experiment
by LauNaMu - No Role
Posted on: Oct. 11, 2024, 2:14 a.m.
Content: We’re excited to contribute on the execution of this experiment and enable the generation of additional standardized data to improve decision making in Retro Rounds!
We’ve optimized the platform experience to ensure the review process during Retro 6 is simple, and straightforward for all delegates and Badgeholders.
Before getting started:
For the experiment only reviews from Badgeholders, Top 100 Delegates and Governance Commission/Councils members will be used in metric creation.
Participants will need to sign in with their Farcaster account, make sure your delegate, Badgeholder, Council wallet has been verified in Farcaster. Here is a guide 2 and video on how to do this.
Step by step guide on how to use Impact Garden
If you’re more of a visual person, here is a short loom video walking you through the process: How to Use Impact Garden ? | Loom
Go to metricsgarden.xyz 15
Click on the top right button “Connect Farcaster” to log in with Farcaster
Go through the onboarding flow ( 4 steps) to familiarize with the platform.
Select your first project to be reviewed. Each card represents one project submitted, click on the “Review” button.
You will be shown the projects “Description” as provided in the application. We are not including the information on a project’s impact statement to avoid biasing reviewers, you also don’t need to read the description if you’re familiar with the project.
Click on “Review” on the right side of the card to go to the 3 questions you’ll need to answer to submit your review. Make sure you answer them all, otherwise you won’t be able to submit the review.
Wait for the attestation to be issued.
Once this is done, move on to your next project to be reviewed!
More info
Once you review a project, the project card will display a “Reviewed” stamp, so you can easily navigate to projects you haven’t reviewed yet.
If you have any questions, or problems please reach out to us on TG 8 so we can follow up!

Impact Garden - Enhancing data driven Impact Evaluation
by LauNaMu - No Role
Posted on: Oct. 11, 2024, 12:55 a.m.
Content: Hi Pavel!
Thank you very much for the feedback! We really like the idea of a more interactive feed which displays new projects and an item we have in our pipeline is fleshing out the Charts section to display a projects metrics (latest contributions, reviews received etc).
Would you like to see this as a feedback for everyone on the platform? Or an individual dashboard for project owners?
LOVE! The idea to include a calendly link for additional feedback!
We’re currently working on some testing and changes to the platform to be ready for the Experiment 2 we’re running during Round 6 in which only one sub-category will be displayed! This means that our traditional version of the platform won’t be accessible until Oct 24 th! Thank you for understanding

[Mission Request] Increase Prevalence of Non-USD/EURO Stablecoins

Content: It would be great if those carrying out this proposal could also share what findings they had in terms of adoption and usage within those markets and which type of products they prefer. I know that Vietnam and the Philipinnes do have a lot of crypto adopters per reports from Messari, but I understand most of it was for gaming which we don’t have a lot of.
While of course these currencies represent 600 million people, you could make an argument that if we switched everything to Spanish in Optimism then we could have all of Latam + Spain be in the Collective which doesn’t mean this is attractive to them.
Also curious in these countries are interested in keeping their funds in BDT, PHP etc rather than exchanging it for USDC.

Impact Garden - Enhancing data driven Impact Evaluation

Content:
:sparkles: More data for better funding decisions in RetroRounds :sparkles:
tl;dr-
:tada: We have launched Impact Garden to generate reputable, standardized onchain data on the impact of contributions to the Collective.
We host a directory with all 309 projects eligible for R 4 and R 5 , and will be automatically supporting projects in R 6 (Governance) and R 7 (Dev Tooling) to receive onchain reviews. Go write a review! :writing_hand:
:bar_chart: We are using this qualitative data to generate impact metrics voters can leverage to inform their votes.
:mag: Find all reviews on our website, along with information on the reviewers role within the Collective (if they have one), and (soon™) an analytics dashboard.
:handshake: Join the conversation in this TG group if you found any issues, need support in using the data, or have questions!
Intro:
Impact Garden is solving for the lack of comparable data to understand the impact of contributions to the Optimism Collective, particularly for non-OSS contributions.
We believe it is critical to understand the impact non-OSS contributions (and OSS) have had in the growth of the Optimism Collective and the Superchain. We are excited to increase the robustness of funding allocation by enabling the creation of new impact metrics through verifiable, standardized, qualitative data.
Why do we need this?
In Retro 3 , we realized how the lack of standardized data limited our ability to evaluate and reward impactful contributions
About 50 % of all projects in R 3 were not OSS, which means that a shift to Github-based or onchain metrics do not cover them. The Collective needs more data to understand and reward the impact of meaningful contributions to Optimism and the Superchain
Through thorough research, we identified this is a widespread problem in the Ethereum ecosystem, particularly affecting Public Goods
Leveraging qualitative data requires standardization to lead to the creation of impact metrics
Reputation based to avoid popularity contexts and sybil attacks. We don’t only care about what the insights are, but who they are coming from and their role in the ecosystem
Platform:
So far…
:construction_worker_woman: We have developed and launched a reputation based platform to enable the collection of standardized qualitative data that can be transformed into comparable impact metrics for project evaluation in Optimim’s RetroRounds and beyond
:studio_microphone: We developed 5 standards for data collection for R 5 and R 6 . These standards are mapped against the Collective intents and designed to distill information gathered from reviewers
:busts_in_silhouette: Mapped appointed and elected stakeholders in the Collective through Seasons 2 to 6 to enable weighting of their evaluations, if desired
For the 79 projects in R 5 , we have gathered over 70 reviews which are available in the Retro voting interface to support voters in the process
Created over 16 Frames to ensure we get more data! Reducing barriers to reviewing, has led to over 94 users interacting with our platform
Leveraged Farcaster’s social graph to increase the information each review provides based on the reviewers role within the Collective
Developed impact metrics based on this qualitative data
image 1920 × 1219 109 KB
Using Impact Garden (and it’s data):
:chart_with_upwards_trend: Analyze the data! All of our data is generated using EAS and stored onchain (permissionless, decentralized access!)
:writing_hand: Leave a review! Tell the rest of the collective what impact you have derived from a contribution to increase awareness for voters.
Register or claim your own project, and contributions, and start receiving reviews!
:sparkle: Create new impact metrics based on the data we’ve collected. We have developed a set of metrics but the data can be sliced and analyzed through multiple lenses!
Our roadmap :motorway::
In the coming weeks we’re focused in increasing the generation of data and the adoption of it by:
Developing an API to enable direct querying of our data, removing the need to index the information from EAS
Developing a dashboard on our platform to enable a simplified analysis of the impact metrics we have developed for R 6 and onwards
Developing an SDK so projects can easily include the review process into their user flows
If you’ve used OSO, we’re currently collaborating with the team to include our data to their data warehouse for future rounds. Stay tuned!
Sustainability:
Impact Garden is the first product designed and developed by Metrics Garden, a web 3 Impact Studio founded by LauNaMu. After developing the Impact Evaluation Framework and the Metrics Garden database, we’re excited for this new adventure. The initial concept for Impact Garden was developed by our team as part of the EAS Launchpad.
In terms of funding, Metrics Garden has been primarily self-funded, with some minor additional funding obtained through Gitcoin. We have been approved for a Builders Grant that covers some of this work (in addition to research unrelated to Impact Garden), which will unlock in May of 2025 .
The long-term sustainability of our project is something we’re currently exploring within the Octant Accelerator, as we collaborate with partners interested in leveraging our platform to inform their allocation strategies and governance design.
Community:
The Collective and its contributors need you! The data being generated is contributed by members of the Collective like you, ensure the projects you benefit from are able to demonstrate their impact (or understand their areas for improvement) by giving them a review.
We’d love to hear from you :hand_with_index_finger_and_thumb_crossed:, explore new metrics, and share updates on our progress. Join our Telegram group here! If you want to use/share our data on your platform we’d love to support you!
