[Mission Request] Grants Claiming Tool
by Lindsey - No Role
Posted on: July 9, 2024, 4:48 p.m.
Content: Really like this initiative @Gonna.eth. The increase in delegation by grant recipients is something i’ve been hearing more requests for. For background, I’m at Hedgey. We’ve managed grant distributions for Arbitrums STIP/LTIPP using vesting grant distributions and created our own grants for projects building on Optimism using the 50 k OP we received from RPGF 3 .
We recently deployed a new delegated claims contract focused specifically on recipients having to delegate as a prequisite to claiming their grant. It can be used for unlocked grant claims or vesting grant distributions (allowing the recipient of a locked grant to delegate governance even on unvested tokens).
The solution would use a Merkle tree claim approach and require grant recipients to delegate as a part of the claim process. We already have grants UIs for creating and claiming on our V 1 product, but could easily spin up public dashboards and integrate the claim experience into existing Optimism solutions or make new ones with what we already have. The contracts are audited by Consensys Diligence, Audit One, and Resonance, w/ fuzzing by Consensys Diligence.
Would love to dive in on this. What’s the best way to get started?

Hedgey RPGF grants final project updates

Content: Hi @FractalVisions - Thanks for sharing. I’m happy to review the people who had difficulty voting. From what I saw people who had difficulty were first trying to vote with their receiving wallet of the OP stream vs the official wallet they created their proposal with. It was only a couple of instances and I think mostly resolved. I know that’s frustrating still. As far as your comment on the vote on forum vs JokeRace goes. It doesn’t appear that the one person who did share their vote here would have changed the outcome of the JokeRace. In their circumstance, they had difficulty voting with a Ledger and still wanted to participate. This is my first time running this thing and lots of lessons learned there. As far as due diligence post voting, I don’t have any indication that there was anything malicious with how people decided their votes. I am of course open to hear anything that would change my mind. As far as next steps, I was wanting to set up a call with the four winners as well as you and Stratagems who were close runners up. I don’t intend this grant to be an easy ride for recipients. We will have biweekly check ins, requirements to be active in OP governance, and accountability to make sure recipients are actively doing the work and using the grant effectively. If recipients do not do the work, I do think yourself and Strategems would be great recipients of the remaining grant allocations should someone not live up to their side of the deal. Will message you to set up a call and see how I can help support you still as you build. Cheers!

Content: voting is completed! A huge congrats to everyone that participated. Will prepare an announcement for tomorrow + reach out to the four teams that won as well as the two projects that were super close. I want to set up a group call with everyone that participated this last month and will aim to do it either Friday of this week or early next week. For the winners, lets plan on setting up next steps tomorrow to allign expectations for the next few months, collect addresses for streams, and get things started!

Content: Hey I know it’s late in the process, but please don’t go down a list and reach out cold to people asking for votes. Have had a couple of points of feedback that some outreach may be borderline spammy and not that’s not the outcome I want for this process. It’s on me 100 % for selecting the criteria for voters, but let’s just do our part to be good to the Optimism voters here. Cheers!

(Looking for feedback) Hedgey - Using our 50k OP RPGF to fund four new projects launching natively on Optimism

Content: Hey @lefterisjp thanks a ton for the feedback here. Another badgeholder shared the same feedback and I feel terrible about having people spam you on this. Was not my intention and the feedback is totally taken in. I was trying to find a way to limit the people who had a voice to a more narrow line of Optimism focused people, but will have to rethink how I do that in future rounds. And thank you for the feedback on JokeRace as well. I’ll share that with David and definitely keep it top of mind for anything in the future.
also - thanks even for the time in sharing your feedback!
