[Mission Request] Decentralized Solvers and Aggregators on OP Mainnet / Superchain
by MattL - No Role
Posted on: Oct. 8, 2024, 10:29 a.m.
Content: Hey @ 0 xmark - Apologies just seeing this.
While I would like this to apply to generating a central front-end DeFi interface to the Superchain, this wouldn’t be within the scope/mandate of the Grants Council within this epoch. We’re unable to approve grants for development/growth for pure Superchain projects.
Instead, this grant is trying to bring decentralized solvers to OP Mainnet and then push them to create plans to deploy elsewhere. However, the scope for developmental costs / growth-related incentives can only be focused on OP.
A few other Missions are attempting to build these sorts of Superchain-focused DeFi apps, such as the Borrow/Lender aggregator or similar grants. But they all struggle within these confines.
0 xmark:
Hey I’m Mark and I work at the Foundation, I’m speaking on my own behalf.
This is more of a question rather than a request. However, would this Mission Request apply to creating a central front end DeFi interface for the Superchain? Similar to the upcoming Polygon Ecosystem Explorer, the idea is an interface that connects users to underlying DeFi applications on the Superchain so that a user can bridge, trade, LP, and lend/borrow all from a singular application interface.
The DapDap team that is behind the Polygon Ecosystem Explorer (coming soon ) has proposed to build a unified platform for Optimism that would enable improved accessibility across the diverse applications on the entire Superchain. This would be an ambitious offering that would attempt to be a mega DeFi app for the entire Superchain, leading to increased exploration across the entire Superchain.

Matt L - Delegate Communication Thread
by MattL - No Role
Posted on: Sept. 23, 2024, 9:24 p.m.
Content: I plan on carrying over some of my votes and thoughts on the most recent proposals I’ve voted on, but for now, I’m carrying over the same as Jack did, as I, too, accidentally voted for the rolling mission requests while being a member of the grants council.
I’ve accidentally voted for the Rolling MRs proposal. Rolling Mission Requests - as a member of the Grant Council I’m not allowed to vote for or against this proposal , just abstain.
This was my mistake and a total oversight on my part. Apologies to my fellow delegates!

Matt L - Delegate Communication Thread
by MattL - No Role
Posted on: Sept. 23, 2024, 8:33 p.m.
Content: This is a very long overdue thread, but I am finally making my own delegate communication thread. This same post may also be used to post delegate communication from the SNX Ambassadors.
I’m a longtime DeFi user, governance contributor, committee member, and councilor.
Most of my views are hyperfocused on the growth of DeFi, yield-generating assets, and finding new ways to support DeFi developers onchain.
My most prominent wallets are:
vote.optimism.io
mattlosquadro.eth on Agora
See what mattlosquadro.eth believes and how they vote on Optimism governance.
vote.optimism.io
mattgov.eth on Agora
See what mattgov.eth believes and how they vote on Optimism governance.
& Synthetix Ambassador Wallets (which I am elected to by Synthetix Stakers and am a 1 / 5 voting member of)
https://vote.optimism.io/delegates/opsnxambassadors.eth
vote.optimism.io
snxambassadors.eth on Agora
See what snxambassadors.eth believes and how they vote on Optimism governance.
Conflict of Interest Statement:
I’m a Core Contributor at Synthetix and an elected member of the Synthetix Ambassadors Council (the external governance arm) through the Ambassadors
I am also a councilor at Kwenta/TLX/and, most likely, some future ecosystem projects through the SNX Ambassadors.
Due to this, I support many Synthetix ecosystem projects through external governance at OP/Arbitrum/et (this includes, but is not limited to, Kwenta, Lyra, Pyth, Polynomial, TLX, Toros/dHEDGE, Infinex, etc.) I am a longtime DeFi nerd, so I love these projects!
I’m an elected member of Pyth Network for the Pythian Council & support external governance. A longtime lover of Pyth feeds from SNX.
OP Grants Councillor/Delegate/Citizen/etc & ARB Delegate
Anyway, my main goal here is to provide more clarity and reasoning for why I vote a certain way and also to clarify the SNX Ambassadors’ involvement in OP governance.
Thanks all, and apologies that it took this long.

Accelerated Decentralization Proposal For Optimism
by MattL - No Role
Posted on: Sept. 19, 2024, 3:30 p.m.
Content: I’ve also expressed my approval of this petition and want to emphasize the areas that are most important to me. My primary objective is to initiate a conversation and work toward aligning on a timeline with the Foundation to gradually and responsibly decentralize over time. This is by no means intended to rush the process but rather to ensure we move forward thoughtfully.
I fully support Gonna’s recommendations and believe this is an excellent opportunity for the Foundation and governance to use this moment to discuss the path toward decentralization, particularly in defining a timeline for the shift.
Disclaimer: The views expressed here are my own and do not represent the Grants Council, Govnerds, Feedback Commission, or any other governance entity I am involved with.
My contributions to the petition primarily revolve around the L 1 Bridge Escrow and the potential to deploy these funds across L 1 DeFi. I’ve conducted several economic opportunity assessments, and with the bridge funds being invested in low-risk strategies—such as MakerDAO DSR, AAVE lending markets, Lido, and other LST opportunities—we’re looking at a potential return in the range of $ 20 - 30 million by utilizing half of these assets.
While this approach will require deeper consideration, it remains a crucial area of focus for me to ensure the DAO’s sustainability and to support the ongoing expenses of various growth programs. The best case scenario from my perspective would be to focus on growth with funds generated through DAO-led initiatives like this, limiting the use of OP tokens while still ensuring that security is paramount.

[Mission Request] - Experimentation of Infrastructure Subsidies
by MattL - No Role
Posted on: Sept. 11, 2024, 9:54 a.m.
Content:
MattL:
From convos in calls with Grants Council:
Include that providers must already have a list of protocols they’d like to subsidize
Include information about how much of the subsidized fees will be paid to the protocol & gas costs
Reach out to providers to see their appetite for launching on OP/Superchain - builders support required
confirm target metric is in compliance (re gonna)
I’ve made the following edits to this proposal + added in additional notes surrounding Superchain/Interop

[Mission Request] Decentralized Solvers and Aggregators on OP Mainnet / Superchain
by MattL - No Role
Posted on: Sept. 11, 2024, 9:31 a.m.
Content:
MattL:
From convos in calls with Grants Council:
Focus heavily on borrow/aggregation across the Superchain
Superchain ERC 20 standard to be included in this proposal
Reach out to providers to see their appetite for launching on OP/Superchain - builders support required
confirm target metric is in compliance (re gonna)
additional points to be added to the proposal:
requirement to have a list of protocols that intend to integrate (for protocol integration level) and/or frontend facing DEX aggregator
place emphasis on supporting Superchain as well (Base, Mode, etc)
Note that interop tech will rely more work for these solver networks, requiring a separate mission request in the future with more funding to support future initiatives (borrow/lend aggregator, cross chain swaps, etc)
cost - cost of the program may be too low to entice builders to conform to the OP Stack standards & prepare for cross chain interop
I’ve made the necessary edits, as reflected in the above + cleaned up the compliance around metrics (re @Gonna.eth)

[Mission Request] Decentralized Solvers and Aggregators on OP Mainnet / Superchain

Content:
GFXlabs:
Just as an informational, limit orders + aggregated routes is already available on Optimism, Base, and Lisk through oku.trade. We would likely apply to this to add the capability to other Superchain members, but is currently available on three members now (disclosure: GFX Labs developed and maintains oku.trade)
Great callout. It would be very beneficial if CowSwap, 1 inch Fusion, Oku, and others in this realm supported not only OP Mainnet but also received builders grants to support Base/Mode/and other chains.

[Mission Request] Subsidized Audit Grants V2

Content: @Gonna.eth would be interesting in combining this, or working to streamline this with RPC/Oracle subsidies as well - as my goal here would be to have an overarching infrastructure subsidies group, working with protocols across OP/Superchain to improve their access to whitelisted providers
