Retro Funding 6: Governance - Round details
by Pumbi - No Role
Posted on: Oct. 3, 2024, 9:34 a.m.
Content: I think you are not understanding the point that @latruite.eth makes.
Delegates within the Top 100 are ALREADY rewarded at the end of each season according to their participation. But that does not happen with the 101 -N delegates.
So the proposal is to include some delegates within the latter set based on certain criteria (who did not receive rewards even though they are active participants), to incentivize them and recognize their committed participation in the Collective.

- brichis: GM! Please note that this is my personal opinion and does not reflect the views of GovNerds or any other structure where I serve.
I believe it’s challenging to modify the eligibility criteria for Retro Funding 6 at this stage. However, Retro Rewards for Season 6 have not yet been distributed, so I think this could serve as valuable feedback for this season. I agree that it’s important to incentivize delegates who are highly active and engaged, but whose voting power doesn’t place them in the Top 100. I suggest including a recommendation on how to identify these delegates or outlining the criteria you would propose.

govNerds Maintainers S6 feedback thread
by Pumbi - No Role
Posted on: Oct. 3, 2024, 9:13 a.m.
Content: Hi Maintainers team!
Here are some of my thoughts:
I like the task system. While it is not the most optimal and can be improved in the future I’m more of a “keep it simple” philosophy. The system works and I would not complicate it with additional features considering that the contribution path is just taking its first steps.
One point that concerns me is the scalability of the program. As of today this is not yet a problem because there are less than 10 of us actively participating, but what will happen when the number increases to 20 - 30 ? The concern is not related to the mentorship required, but because the availability of operational tasks to be performed per voting cycle are not too many.
I would like the contribution path to include content creation and onboarding tasks to OP Governance. We need more people to get involved in Governance, but it is a reality that this process is not easy for someone just starting. Understanding concepts such as Seasons, Voting Cycles, Intents, Mission Requests, or how to properly use the forum is a barrier to entry for more participants. By creating simple and educational content on Governance related concepts we can address this problem.
As a participant of this initiative since the first day it was live I’m beyond excited to continue progressing in this contribution path and I’m sure that this program will be of vital importance to onboard new people to actively participate in governance processes.

A case for the organizational chart

Content: Hey @alexsotodigital I’d like to refloat this post because I feel that for many members of the community it was a very useful idea to have this grand organizational scheme.
In fact, the @superchaineco team presented a similar work today. Maybe join forces with them?

Code of Conduct Council S6 Election Town Hall
by Pumbi - No Role
Posted on: Aug. 6, 2024, 10:22 a.m.
Content: Hey @brichis thanks for the questions.
brichis:
I remember two important cases related to the CoCC. The first one is this one.
If there had been a CoCC at that time, what should they have done? How should it have been processed?
In the case of doxxing, the first thing would have been the collection of all the evidence for analysis within the CoCC and its removal from the public forum. I agree with previous comments that the best way would have been a private mediation between the parties to understand the seriousness of the doxxing better and hear all the arguments that led to this situation.
I’m very curious about the case of the accused who presented a great amount of evidence. An individual who is very involved with the Collective and shows good will/predisposition. What was the trigger to have taken such an action? Understanding the motivation behind it can help to comprehend the origin of the conflict and look for ways to ensure that such situations are not repeated in the future.
The CoC rules are very clear. A temporary suspension of the accused is valid.
The severity of the suspension would be subject to several factors: Was there a settlement between the parties? How much sensitive information was made public?
brichis:
The second case is the NFTearth issue. You can find information about this in the CoCC communication thread . What would you have done differently or what would you have proposed if you had been part of that CoCC?
For the NFTEarth case, it is difficult to add anything additional without having all the necessary context and evidence. I feel that the CoCC members were right in all decisions, but following the thread it is evident that one of the parties was not satisfied with the measures imposed and that the process (after the measure was taken) became very long and unclear. Could more have been done to ensure that all parties end up satisfied with the results?
It is important to remember that the CoCC is an experiment now in its second season, the structure is still being refined and adjusted to react more and more effectively to different situations that may arise.
I feel that the members of the first season of the CoCC did a great job laying the groundwork and defining the scope, opportunities and how this Council really wants to operate. Undoubtedly, their work will be of great help for this new season.
