[DRAFT] Customer Research Mission Request
by blockchainatusc - No Role
Posted on: Feb. 6, 2024, 12:54 a.m.
Content: Joxes: Developer Report: Analysis of Open-Source Crypto Developers by Electric Capital I just skimmed through this report. It gives some metrics which mainly focuses on developer growth across different ecosystems, and overall developer trends, but it doesn’t go deeply into why these developers might choose one EVM chain or another, or if they are multi-chain, why they choose the set of chains that they do. These are the types of insights I think would be useful for the Collective (at least it would be useful for me) when creating Mission Requests, and evaluating proposals for the Collective. Joxes: I would prefer to focus more on suggestions based on evidence to improve the current incentives established by the governance to attract more builders into Optimism. Yes, this makes sense. If you don’t think this idea gets across in the request, feel free to suggest edits. Thank you!

[DRAFT] Developer Resource Hub Mission Request
by blockchainatusc - No Role
Posted on: Jan. 17, 2024, 5:02 p.m.
Content: Delegate Mission Request Summary: This mission request seeks to establish a centralized resource hub for developers on Optimism and the Superchain. The hub will be a comprehensive repository offering a wide range of development tools, frontend libraries, debugging, testing libraries, smart contract templates, etc. The goal is to provide clear, accessible guidance and support to teams and builders dedicated to developing on OP-Mainnet and/or as part of the Superchain. S 5 Intent 3 : Intent 2 - Grow the Superchain Proposing Delegate: TBD Proposal Tier: Applications must be submitted by teams at the Fledging Tier. Baseline grant amount: 10 k OP Should this Foundation Mission be fulfilled by one or multiple applicants: One Submit by: To be set by Grants Council Selection by: To be set by Grants Council Start date: Start of Q 2 2024 Completion date: End of Q 3 2024 Specification How will this Delegate Mission Request help accomplish the above Intent? This Delegate Mission Request, focused on establishing a Developer Resource Hub for Optimism and the Superchain, directly aligns with and supports Intent 2 : Grow the Superchain. Here’s how: Facilitating Developer Access and Growth: By providing a centralized hub with comprehensive resources, we lower the entry barriers for new and existing developers. Enhancing Quality and Interaction of Deployments: With tools, templates, and guidance readily available, developers can create higher quality contracts and projects. By centralizing resources and guidance, this mission request directly contributes to the growth and development of active builders on the Superchain. What is required to execute this Delegate Mission Request? To execute this Delegate Mission Request for creating a Developer Resource Hub for Optimism and the Superchain, several key elements are required: Comprehensive Resource Compilation: Assemble an extensive collection of development tools, frontend libraries, debugging tools, smart contract templates, fuzzing tools, and testing tools. These resources must be specifically chosen to meet the needs of developers working within the Optimism ecosystem, including integration with OP Mainnet and chains like Base. User-Friendly Interface: Design the hub with a focus on ease of navigation, ensuring developers can quickly find the tools or information they need. This includes intuitive categorization with filters, search functionality, and clear, concise descriptions of each resource with relevant links. Regular Updates and Maintenance: Ensure the hub remains up-to-date with the latest dev tools and libraries. This requires ongoing maintenance and regular updates. By fulfilling these requirements, the Developer Resource Hub will be a vital asset for fostering growth and innovation on the Optimism network and the broader Superchain. How should the Token House measure progress towards this Mission? To track progress for the Developer Resource Hub mission, Token House should measure: Website Launch: Target date for website going live (September 2024 ). Visitor Metrics: Monthly count of unique visitors and average time spent on the site. Resource Count: Number of resources (tools, libraries, etc.) available on the site. How should badgeholders measure impact upon completion of this Mission? To measure the impact of the Developer Resource Hub mission, Citizens’ House badgeholders should focus solely on visitor metrics: Total Unique Visitors: Count the cumulative number of unique visitors to the hub since its launch. Repeat Visit Rate: Calculate the percentage of visitors who return to the site, indicating sustained interest. Average Time Spent: Track the average duration of visits, reflecting engagement with the hub’s content. Measure of New Projects Using this Tool: Through survey or other means, demonstrate the contribution of this tool towards new and quality project creation/contributions. These visitor metrics will provide a clear indication of the hub’s reach and its effectiveness in engaging the developer community. Have you engaged a Grant-as-a-service provider for this Mission Request? No. Has anyone other than the Proposing Delegate contributed to this Mission Request? I am sponsoring the proposal of Maxime Servais 2 . Link to it here 4 EDITS: Edited to remove grants information from scope and new project creation to metrics

[DRAFT] Customer Research Mission Request
by blockchainatusc - No Role
Posted on: Jan. 17, 2024, 4:48 p.m.
Content: Delegate Mission Request Summary: This mission requests customer/market research of OP’s main customer: application builders. This research report would allow the Collective to make educated decisions on what to fund going forward to best attract new builders and support existing builders. S 5 Intent: Grow the Superchain Proposing Delegate: Blockchain@USC 1 Proposal Tier: Ember Tier Baseline grant amount: 10 k (but open to feedback. I’m not really sure how much a research report should be commissioned for) Should this Foundation Mission be fulfilled by one or multiple applicants: One Submit by: To be set by Grants Council Selection by: To be set by Grants Council Start date: As soon as possible Completion date: May 15 (end of post-Season 5 off-season) Specification How will this Delegate Mission Request help accomplish the above Intent? In order to grow the Superchain, we must have a deep understanding of our app builders, their needs, and their wants. We should know what attracts builders to deploy on one chain over the other, and what developers need in order to successfully attract their customers What is required to execute this Delegate Mission Request? Fleshed out research proposal. To limit scope, subject of the research should be strictly dapp builders, as opposed to app-chain builders. The focus should also be on the business leaders of these projects, as opposed to the developers (sometimes the business leaders are developers, which is fine, but we should be doing research on what these projects need to thrive overall, as opposed to what developers need on a technical level). Once the research proposal is fleshed out, methodologies and survey sample included, the data should be collected according to the methodologies. Finally, the data should be compiled into a report detailing dapp project’s needs. How should the Token House measure progress towards this Mission? In order to apply for the Mission, projects should describe their supposed research proposal, particularly methodology. Thus, by the time the grant is rewarded, the applying team should be ready to go. Within the first two weeks, the proposal and methodology should be truly fleshed out and ready to collect data through. The team should collect data from a robust sample of dapp project leaders in the following 4 weeks. The team should spend the following 4 weeks making the report. How should badgeholders measure impact upon completion of this Mission? The use of this report by delegates and grants providers in order to direct funding decisions should be viewed as success for this Mission. It’s hard for me to think of a specific metric that encompasses at this time. Have you engaged a Grant-as-a-service provider for this Mission Request? No Has anyone other than the Proposing Delegate contributed to this Mission Request? No Note: I think this Request is in need of some fleshing out. I am highly open to critique/suggestions. Also, if a report like this already exists, then no need to duplicate work. Please link it and we can try to promote it so we can make informed decisions.
